Dog Tooth Amethyst
Amethyst - with Dog Tooth Calcite inclusions - those creamy white bands that make it look like someone stirred vanilla ice cream into the grape jelly. It's purple - who doesn't love purple? OK - fair enough - some of you don't - but just look at it - from romantic to powerful - from royal purple and bishops to pansies and violets - purple is the colour of kings and kids playing in a flowered field! Speaking of which - there is a flower called the Dog Tooth Violet that is the same colour - I wonder if there is a connection?
Dog Tooth (or Dogtooth or Dog Teeth) Amethyst also goes by the names Banded Amethyst or Chevron Amethyst.
It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
Metaphysically - it is believed to help remove resistance to change and to dissipate and turn aside negativity.
