Approx. 26 ga wire - a very fine (thin) wire. Fine silver is pure, 99.9% silver (as opposed to sterling - which is 92.5% silver). Round in profile. Temper is dead soft (very easy to bend.). Fine silver does not tarnish to the same degree as sterling, does not work-harden (get stiff and brittle as you bend it) like sterling, and is used in lampworking for decorating beads. Fine silver wire is used for wire crochet (with or without beads added), because it will stay soft and flexible. This size is great for wire crochet (often, wire crochet patterns specify 1 ounce (or fraction or multiple) of wire - for reference, there are approximately 75 feet of fine silver 26 ga wire in one ounce). This size is also perfect for decorating beads by wrapping around multiple times and then heating in the flame to get a series of randomly spaced silver dots.
