Miyuki Delica Beads

Miyuki Delica Seed Beads

Miyuki Delica seed beads are extremely uniform cylinder beads created by Miyuki in Japan and are the most popular of the Japanese seed beads. Delicas come in a variety of sizes and a wide range of hundreds of colors. They can either be smooth or six sided (hex-cut). Delica beads are preferred by artists for loom work or off-loom bead weaving projects that require an even, symmetrical appearance.

Miyuki Delica Seed Beads

Delicas have the most extensive color palette of all the Miyuki seed beads. Delicas are preferred for peyote stitch, brick stitch, and weaving on looms because their cylinder shape gives the finished piece a flat surface which maximizes any design or pattern. Bead artists have used them to create detailed portraits and sculptures with each bead acting as a single pixel of color.

Delica beads were first created by Miyuki in 1982 and are now available in four sizes – 15/0, 11/0, 10/0 and 8/0. There are at least one thousand colors available in the most popular 11/0 size, and each year Miyuki develops more colors and finishes.  Different names may be given to the colors, but if you shop by the color number, you are assured of the same color across all of the Delica seed beads.

Miyuki Delica bead sizes from smallest to largest are 15/0, 11/0, 10/0 and 8/0.  Specific sizes are shown on the individual size pages.
