A Rose Montee comes pre-mounted in a metal backing - with holes in it. This is a flat style, and there is a x shaped channel in the back for stitching it on securely. However, you can also use these in jewelry stringing projects. Try a double strand of stringing cable, with a few seed beads between each rose montee. Traditionally these were for sewing onto clothing, like wedding dresses, costumes, figure skating outfits and are popular with brides and drag queens alike. Foiled, rhinestones are prong set. Cup is metal - so do not use with Nymo or easily cut thread - use wire or beading wire/cable (i.e. Softflex) instead. Rhinestone is ss20 - approx 4.7mm
