BeadFX welcomes two very talented and inspirational instructors in April

Canada has a wealth of impressive artists and instructors in the jewellery-making field. In April, we are extremely pleased to offer series of classes with two well-known and high-calibre Canadian instructors: lampwork artist Karina Guevin and seed beading artist and author Carolyn Cave.

karina-guevin-image-300wKarina Guevin joins us from Montreal and will be teaching a three-day class featuring sculptural and glassblowing techniques. Her playful flamework jewelery and sculptures inspired by nature has been recognized with a Francois-Houde Award and grants from the Canadian and Quebec Consul for the Arts, La SODEC, and a Gilles Verville grant in visual art. Guevin is regularly invited to teach in many studios including the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuch Glass school, Nijiima (Japan), Pratt (Seattle) and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Her work is part of many private and public collections and has been showed in North America, in Europe and in Asia. She is always ready for new adventures!

carolyn-cave-image-300wAuthor Carolyn Cave hails from Lacombe, Alberta, and is a self-taught bead artist. Carolyn enjoys the endless creativity derived from stringing and stitching little, round, shiny things with holes in them. This is both a frustrating and exhilarating way to fill in the spare moments of her very full days as a wife, mother of three young ladies, and musician. Creativity has always played a large role in her life, from sewing clothes for Barbie at a young age, to experimenting with a wide variety of arts and crafts; from earning a Degree in Music and playing several instruments, to making jewelry. Her creations are inspired by a wide variety of things: the colors and shapes of the natural world, works of vintage and antique beaded art, the encouraging comments of her family, and the many hours spent composing with needle, beads and thread. Her work has been published in Bead and Button and Beadwork magazines, and she has been a winner in multiple categories of BeadStar every year since 2011. Carolyn is also the author of the book Beautiful Designs with SuperDuos and Twin Beads, published by Kalmbach, and a second book is in the works now.
