You might not know it, but my May bead mat update, is actually a snapshot of me doing everything and nothing! Seriously, I do know what I want to do (well maybe?), but I still want to experiment.
I’m not afraid of hard work, but I am deathly afraid of being bored, so that’s why I jump around so much. Is that what mixed media is all about? I’ve hardly touched my bead embroidery for months, and there’s still that little purple doll hanging about. I won’t show her in my May bead mat update, but wouldn’t it be nice to have her finished by the end of June? I promise to try to think about doing that! How’s that for a non-committal plan? LOL!
I finished off my dirty pour bezels (acrylic paint) with a coat of Ice Resin. It really does make the colours pop! What do you think of primary colours for my next series?
Next up in my May bead mat update, is a bracelet that I dreamed up months ago! I thought that it would be interesting to add some freeform peyote, to a Regaliz leather bracelet. As you can see, this project is not moving very fast, so who knows when it will be completed? I certainly don’t! But then again, it’s exciting to see some actual beads on my bead mat!!
Well imagine that! The beads are still here, but only because I was too lazy to put them away. They’re underneath an oops that I created over the weekend. I thought that I could cover a wooden bowl with plastic; pour a resin concoction over top; then create a fabulous bowl. Despite my best efforts, the resin ended up in a puddle! How the heck am I going to use up my wasted efforts? I do like the colours, so all is not lost!
I continue to work on my #1yearofstitches2017 project, but dedicated time is definitely a thing of the past! That’s the trouble with in-between projects, you only work on them when you feel like it. I guess that I haven’t been feeling like it!
My beachcombing efforts continue, but as the water level in the lake is quite high (due to heavy rain and storms), my current favourite beach is not accessible. I had to make do with an alternate, but as you can see the waves are still a little angry, and the rocks are an accident waiting to happen! This selection of stones and beach glass (from previous trips) is now clean and sanitized. However, the driftwood is not! But isn’t that holey piece cool? I wonder what I will do with it?
I guess that’s it for my May bead mat update! I’m feeling a little torn by all of the possibilities, so I think that it’s time to focus on my priorities again! Is it just me, or do you find this time of the year a little overwhelming? The rebirth and renewal part is exciting, but the work, oh my, the work!!!!
