Lasers!

Lasers! Back in the 60’s – when lasers were developed – so the story goes – the developers described them as “a solution looking for a problem.” Since then – all sorts of problems have come along that they have been solutions for – but I bet you have never thought of this one! Laser Etched Beads! This is something new – beads that have a coating, similar to AB and the other metallic and iridescent coatings, with a pattern etched into the coating with a laser. The work is so delicate that only the coating is effected – there …

Working with paper, metal, fibre and beads: An artist’s delight!

I woke up thinking about paper, metal, fibre and beads! What did you wake up to? Isn’t it funny how often dreams can trigger new directions in our work? Okay, full disclosure! I spotted something on Pinterest, that caused me to get sucked into the rabbit-hole, and explore new (to me) options. Unfortunately, I lost my reference photo, but that doesn’t matter, because it got me to thinking about utilizing a combination of paper, metal, fibre and beads in some of my future work (the following photo of my cuffs, includes paper, metal and resin, but that’s not really what …

Of course, if you still want to follow me, then that’s okay too! When I say follow your muse, I mean that if your inner voice is telling you to do something, then run, not walk, and experience all that your creativity has to offer. What could it hurt? InspirationFX: Thorn in My Side

Thorn in My Side Designed by: Rochelle Kilmer   This jewellery set is dark and moody. Kind of like how Mother Nature is being right now! The last 4 days have been rain, rain, and more rain. She can’t seem to decide if its’ cold or hot. Sunshine or rainy days. All this indecision is giving me headache and what better way to soothe the soul than to make a beautiful piece of jewellery. It started out as just a bracelet, then with my left over Swarovski rounds and Kambaba Jasper I made up a pair of earrings and a …

Faux Gold Colour Match

We got a good question last night – what is the best color match in findings for the new faux gold from Parawire? So here we go – grab a roll of wire and head over to the findings counter in the store, which is sorted by colour, like the website. Antiqued Brass – it looks nice with it – but is definitely not a match. Bright Brass – this is a really nice match, very good together.   Here is it with the gold plated – it’s good – close, but not quite as good as the brass. It …

There’s no gold like Faux Gold …

… like no gold, I know. Actually – I know there is no gold in faux gold, but the point is not the gold, the point is that this is a gold-colored alloy wire that looks like gold all the way through – unlike color-coated wire – which shows a copper core when cut. This is ParaWire’s new Faux Gold wire line-up, which, even when you look at the cut end, appears to be a solid color all the way through. It is also very consistent in color across the sizes, and is a rich, convincing gold color.     …
