There’s something inside my head that I like to call the freeform wars. Should I start a new peyote stitch project, or how about Intuitive Bead Embroidery? I love both techniques, and I have a hard time choosing between the two!
I’ve been up north the last couple of weeks, and I decided to bring a handful of my UFO’s (unfinished objects) along for the ride (see last Wednesday’s blog post). My head wasn’t into it! I chilled out with books, family, food, and nature! What more could a girl ask?
But then I came home, just before the long weekend (with 3 more days of play)! Do I need solitude, to dig my teeth into a serious project? Apparently so! But what about the freeform wars? There must have been a ceasefire, because I completed my intuitive bead embroidery project on Sunday (sore fingers, for sure!). On Monday, I decided to work on my freeform peyote pendant. Is freeform peyote, ever really finished? I’ll say that it’s done for now, pending decisions on how I’m going to finish the necklace. If only I used a sketchbook! A little pre-planning might help, but then it wouldn’t be freeform! Would it?
Here’s a photo of my latest natural dyeing experiment. This time with red onion skins! The colour surprised me, and the blotches are there on purpose! My next experiment will be citrus skins, but I need to wait until Marg eats more oranges! LOL! Seriously though, it might take a couple of weeks to gather the supplies.
I couldn’t end this blog post, without a few vacation photos! Could I? I’ll post more on my Facebook page, in the next couple of days.
Who’s winning the freeform wars? It’s neck in neck, but still more work to be done! That darned purple doll is glaring at me! I do have another bead embroidery piece to finish, and I need to experiment with sculptural freeform peyote. The muse has the ideas, but does she have the time? The cycle never seems to end!
