Wrap your way to beautiful designs with Kaska Firor

BeadFX is proud to present six classes with artist, designer and author Kaska Firor! Kaska is a very well-known wire weaving artist and regularly teaches at Bead and Button, North America’s largest jewellery-making conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “I fell in love with wire arts the moment I picked up a pair of pliers in my first wire wrapping class in the summer of 2001,” says Kaska. “It was the way those small wire tools felt in my hands, so naturally and comfortably, and the irresistible magic of wire, its ability to transform into different shapes and patterns, that completely captured …

If you had a chance to drop by BeadFX on September 7, you would have seen the new class offerings and met the terrific people presenting …

Swarovski Love: A sparkly affair!

A little Swarovski love is what we need, now that the season is turning. Who turned the switch, and where did summer go? It seems earlier than normal, but fall is certainly sneaking up on us! But is there anything that we can do to hold back the season? Unfortunately, not, but we can always warm up our creativity, by adding a little sparkle back into our lives. I blame the child in us, for our attraction to sparkle. Swarovski love, is certainly not for the faint of heart, but it does give you something to think about. Is sparkle just …

A Walk Down the Crystal Lane

New this week – Crystal Lane bead mixes. Listen – we know you are probably thinking more about the long weekend, and all that it signifies (end of summer, back to school, relief from the heat and bugs; your choice), so this is a simple little update.* These coordinated strands come in wide range of colorways – and consist of five strands of beads, with three strands of glass pearls in 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm, plus two unique glass bead strands. Each strand is about six inches long – so that’s 30 inches of beads. *What the heck – let’s …

Intuitive Design: Taking a risk!

Is intuitive design, outside of your comfort zone? Do you know, or only suspect that this is the case? I’m bold enough to tell you that intuitive design, is my preferred way of working. Do I work without a net? Of course, but it’s the only way to go!! Okay, there are definitely other ways of working, but I’m more comfortable with this one. I never really thought about it, but then I became heavily involved in the Bead Journal Project (BJP). Oh, I had played around with freeform, and techniques in my Fibre Art Studios days (a long-gone, Greater …
