‘Tis a Rocky Road We Travel

It’s a rocky road indeed, full of toil and whoa – look at this! Is this some Labradorite I see before me? Why, yes, yes it is. We are blessed with an unusually fine selection of Labradorite today. Pendants and faceted stones – to go with our existing rather nice Labradorite clasps. You can do the whole Labradorite thing! I’m not trying to buffalo you – but we have also some more of the White Buffalo Stone, or White Howlite, in both polished and matte finishes. Howlite is often presented dyed as an imitation Turquoise, or by unscrupulous vendors, actually …

That Depends …

Do you like to hang out? Dangle around? Swing and drop? Hook up? Link in? As simple as a pair of drops on a short chain as swingy splash-of-color earrings, or as an accent to a twisted chain and fibre rope necklace. Or use the two loop version to make a quick and easy wire-wrap ring! Are you the in-de-pendant type? Well – we have a delicious selection of stone (and stone-like) pendants that you can just drop onto a chain and you are good to go, or use as the inspiration for a more sophisticated design. Maybe make a …

Once upon a time …

Once upon a time – there were three friends. There was Chrys – Chrys O’ Colla if you wanted to be formal; Rose, from the famous Quartz family; and Amy Thyst.   And they lived in Labrador-ite. But they all had a dream. A dream to go on a Green Aventurine vacation – flying up the river Amazon-ite. To get a Birdseye Rhyolite view. But there was a Big Hole in their plans. They all had a short-coming – a flaw, if you will. One had a bad case of Tiger Eye, one was just Crazy Lace, and one was …

Button up – it’s cold outside!

We give a hoot – we really do! Cuz baby – it’s cold outside. OK – not as cold as it might be – some of you are up to your eyebrows in snow – WTH Vancouver! – and all things considered – here in Ontario we’ve been having a pretty good winter. BUT – still. Winter. Cold. It’s a thing. So while you are contemplating the north star, and dreaming of sunflowers and summer dragonflies, we have a bunch of new buttons, to go with our old buttons! You can button up, button down, or butt on in. 😉 …

What did the Groundhog See?

What did that lil’ furry critter see when he popped his head out of his burrow? Why – he saw a lovely selection of glass beads and flowers! “Oh Yum,” thought the Groundhog – “I should have Czech’ed these out earlier. There was no need to hibernate – I could have spent the winter beading!” And we do have a lovely selection of new Czech glass Flowers and Leaves. Whether you are stringing (the flowers make awesome bead caps, btw, especially in earrings!), doing some beadweaving and need a cool accent, or making a knotted bracelet featuring lots of …

What have we found for you this week?

If you thought we were going a little clasp crazy – well – you might be entirely justified. Some of it comes down to discovering a neglected box of items, and some of it is because of the fun we are all having with looming! Looming first! We just got these cool BeadSlide clasps for use with loomed or beadweaving pieces that have single row of beads at the end (loomed or square stitch, vs peyote, with its staggered bead pattern). To use, you slide the final row of beads into the tube – there is a gap for …

4 mm Firepolish and Other Stuff

If beading were baking, then 4 mm firepolish beads would be one of those staples that you would always keep in the beading pantry. They are versatile enough to use as the main design element, or as an accent for something bigger and flashier. You can string them with stone, metal, work them in bead weaving projects, wire them, put them on elastic – do whatever with them! We found a stash of custom colors from a now out-of-business company – so not sure we can get more of these, unless we manage to locate the original manufacturer. 22 Fun …

Laser Cut Leather, Druzy Pendants, The REALLY BIG Jig

Laser cut leather – 20 mm and 10 mm strips of leather with intricate cut patterns! Wear as is, or use as a base to weave, stitch or sew on beads to embellish. Freeform Druzy pendants – Agate or Chalcedony druzies – metallic colors – with a horizontal hole – ready to string, or be part of a more elaborate design. A pretty little stash of amber beads – to go with the rest of the chunks and nuggets. Amber is pretty and light weight and warm to the touch.   Labradorite fans – rejoice! Faceted Labradorite pendants and beads! …
