Think like a Designer with late-May classes

Imagine translating this image into bead embroidery, or enamel, or lampworked beads, or metalwork: where would you start? The incredible colours of the flowers? The shape of the tulip petals? Would you identify a single flower or try to capture the mass of the field? Learning a technique is the first step in designing your own piece of art jewellery. Once you become familiar with how to put components together, you can then create your own look – and ultimately – your own designs! Our late-May classes feature a wide variety of techniques for all levels of jewellery making. New …

Robyn Cornelius kicks off May classes

As I’m writing this, the outside is dull and rainy – typical April showers! However, I’ve been ‘planting’ nuggets of beading ideas that may bear interesting projects (and classes). We shall see what happens! No doubt though we have some exciting classes coming up including three metalwork classes with Robyn Cornelius! I’ve had the pleasure of taking several of Robyn’s classes and her forte is being able to bring students of all experience levels through to completion of her class projects. We also have Barbara Colautti with another polymer clay application that mimics the look of wood or ivory. If …

When I turn the calendar to April, I know the good weather is on its way. Marilyn Parker, a new instructor with BeadFX, is showing us how to make kaleidocycles. If you’ve wanted to learn about fine silver …
