InspirationFX: Pagoda Earrings

Get your creative juices flowing~~~ Pagoda Earrings Designed by: Pam Kearns One of my favourite classes to teach is Jewellery Making 101 where students create earrings using simple techniques. These projects employ the simplest of techniques to create three uses of the new Open Waterlily flower beads. Check out Snowdrops, my previous Inspiration for another technique. In this project you are using simple loops and wrapped loops to create the earrings. 1. Start by working on the bottom flower first by stacking a 3mm bead onto the headpin and then adding the waterlily bead so that the flower opening facing …

November classes continue with great holiday ideas

Yikes, the holidays are creeping up fast! You don’t need to go to the malls for holiday gifts – create them yourself! Hand-made gifts are special to most people because they come from the heart; the time it takes to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery is always appreciated by the recipient. Come on out to a class to learn a new technique – then come on out to Open Bead Night and/or an Afternoon Bead Tea and work on your gifts in the company of other beaders. Great conversation and time to bead – what more can you can for? …

Here are some pics from the class.  Today she taught a private class focusing on wrapped loops arranged by a woman for her and her two nieces. Did you know that you can request private classes? Well, now you do! Contact Pam at the store and she can set it up for you. Most of our instructors offer one on one classes …

Going Geometric

Jean Power came to beadFX this past week to teach three incredible classes. I was lucky enough to squeeze into Geometric Stars on Saturday and I am so glad I did.  I’d been working on her Reversible Triangle Pendant pattern for a while using different colour combos. I finally settled on a bright, happy colourway to complement a top I bought for the Swarovski cruise.  Jean’s instructions are fantastic and have excellent diagrams with them. She shares all sorts of tips and tricks to creating the stars and also provided colour coded charts for different designs. The Geometric Stars is …

Look What Our Students Made!!

On Sunday, I taught a new course at beadFX called Introduction to Bead Embroidery to eleven students. The goal of the class was to learn how to bezel a cabochon onto a bead backing. They got to choose cabochons and seed beads from the large array available at the store. I was amazed how well everyone did. I thought I would show you pictures of everyone’s work. This is what students accomplished in three hours. You can too!! Dawn used a Lunasoft cabochon.  Here is Deborah’s multicolor seed bead mix around a piece of turquoise.  This is a button that …

Crocheting with Beads

Just had to squeal with delight about the class I taught tonight: Wire Crochet Choker. Ten lovely women signed up for spending their Friday night with me at beadFX. Who could ask for anything more? Well, George Clooney was not available… This was the first time I taught the class with a supply list instead of pre-packaging a kit. Students chose their own wire, beads and findings before the class started and could spend as little or as much as they wanted. It was interesting to see all the choices made. Size 6 Czech seedbeads, pearls, Swarovski Elements galore. Gemstone …
