Mighty Amazon-ite and other Mighty-Fine Stones

The Amazon-ite twins, Matte and Glossy, ready to leap to the jewelry rescue – saving you from lack-of-inspiration. The soothing soft sea foam colours would make a crab happy. Small in size but mighty in deliciousness … these are mites of beads – like these 4mm Lapis Lazuli or these Tourmaline Mixes Not just the Amazon is mighty though – these 14.5mm Black Rutilated Quartz beads are large and lovely. As are these 11x15mm Tumbled Nuggets – Green/Brown Prehnite And these: Stone Beads – 10x14mm Oval Barrel – Prehnite (strand) And These: Stone Beads – 7.5-10mm Nuggets – Citrine (strand) …

Bail Out, Itsy Bitsy Coins

Nope – we’re not changing our business model here. It’s just that this week, we have TierraCast Bails for your pendant-hanging pleasure, and 4mm Diamond Cut Faceted Stone Coins – which is a bit of a mouthful. Bails – a bail is a loop to hang something or hold it. That wire handle on a bucket – that’s the bail. These bails are for hanging pendants, from crystal pendants to whatever you want to dangle. It’s tough to quantify what a bail will fit on, and most of them are pretty flexible in terms of working for more than one …

Too Beautiful for Words

Sometimes, I feel like the beads in an update really don’t need me to say anything other than – here, have at them. This is one of those updates. I’m going to start with these – Terra Agate. These big barrel beads – I keep thinking they look like lampwork beads. They are so gorgeous, and so individual – they look hand-crafted. Chrysocolla – it’s no secret I love chrysocolla, and judging from the way it flies out the door, I’m thinking a fair number of you do too! Mind you – Lapis has been known to be my fave …

A Dessert of Rocks, and I have an Impression there is a Sale

Ah, modoms et monsieur! Zo good to see you again. Zis week – we have more stones for your dining pleasure, and a sale, BUT, ah must hasten to add, NOT a sale on the stones. Ah just wanted to clarify that up front. 😉 I zink you will find the sale, riveting and it will make an impression … But first, dessert. Because life is short – we must eat dessert first, no? Can I interest modom in zome icy Rutile Quartz rounds? A zesty blend of frosty quartz and delicate inky rutile inclusions? Or perhaps zome of ze …

Welcome to the Stone Age

As promised at the beginning of the year, this week we start rolling out some premium stone beads and pendants and cabochons that were recently unearthed in the preparations for my renovation. Ahem. My bad – but the good news is, this is quality that even a few short years later, is getting harder and harder to find. First up – a stunning assortment of Amazonite. Strands of beads … Or these One of a Kind strands of large, freeform stones that you can use one at a time, or in one fabulous statement piece. Turquoise Heishi, just because. Reaching …

Falling Leaves

by: Rosemary Beasley When I saw the two strands of the “freeform” tiger iron, I was inspired by their “leafy” shape to make a necklace inspired by the fall season. The tiger iron is streaked with slate, rust and little hits of mustard yellow making me think of November skies and falling leaves. The glass leaves and 2mm pearls add a lightness contrasting with the darkness of the tiger iron. Components http://www.beadfx.com/inspirations/inspirations.php?id=878

Big Hole Stone, OOAK Pendants, Guru Beads

This week – we are all about those stones. We love all our beads – our collection of crystal, our stash of seedbeads, but oh, those stone beads. Like children – they are all special, but though we won’t admit it, one is a little more special than the others. 😉 Big Hole Stone Beads For leather. For cord. For whatever you want to put them on. Stone beads with larger than usual holes to take a 2 mm cord. Or, how about a Stone Pendant? Each one unique. From Azurite to Amazonite/Red Creek Jasper to Ocean Jasper to Shattuckite. …

As Promised, Lapis Cabs

I promised you Lapis Lazuli cabochons – and here they are. One of a Kind – please don’t wait – they will go fast. I don’t think I need to say anything else – they speak for themselves – “I’m bluuuuue – buy me.” At least – that’s what they say to me. 😉   What’s next? Here’s a clue … Tiger Iron! No actual tigers were ironed in the making of these beads – Tiger Iron is a combination of Tigereye, Hematite and Red Jasper. Tigereye and Hematite are both minerals that are iron-rich – but we don’t recommend …

Stoney Stuff

Old Stoneface has struck again and we have some of your favourite stones on deck this week. We have tourmaline – which is tourmalicious. Tourmaline means many-coloured, and from cream to butterscotch to strawberry to berry to licorice – tourmaline is many-flavoured too. Labradorite, labradorite, can’t get enough of that labradorite! Also classic – Amethyst! Dog Tooth Amethyst, with it’s distinctive jagged bands of white and cream, and the classic purple amethyst too. But, with either one, remember to not store them in sunlight – UV light will fade your amethyst. (I found this out the hard way – I …
