You may recognize this as one of the Katiedid components. Instead of filling them with beads - I thought they would look awesome filled with multi-coloured resin. My original plan was to make a lifesaver type of bracelet. Each one different, pop-y, and brightly hued.  I only got around to making the first one (to make sure it would work out as planned). Now we have a pendant for a necklace ;-)

We carry everything you need to make this pendant with the exception of the mica powder (which is how I made the resin pink). You can use Pearl-ex powder, which you should be able to pick up at a Michaels store, or  possibly Walmart in the craft section.  You can also use a teeny bit of oil paint to colour your resin.

Since these Katiedid's have holes in them, you'll need to plug them up before pouring in the resin. Since I was making links, I used two long sterling headpins with a ball-end. String them in from the middle, and then wire wrap.

The resin itself is pretty easy to use. The instructions in the package are clear and easy to follow. Mix, and colour as directed. Then, using a craft stick (popsicle) carefully fill the channel with your coloured resin. Allow a couple days to dry.

Unfortunately, due to the magic of photography magnification...I didn't do a very good clean up job on this. You'll notice little bits of red resin in places where it shouldn't be. This is easy to clean up with a craft knife...and of course it only shows in the photography. I'm staring at the pendant right now, squinting to see what is glaringly obvious in the pics :-)
