The treasures of the Orient - Jade and Pearls. What could be a more perfect combination?

And truly, every once in a while, you hit on a combination of colours and shapes that is so perfect, so harmonious - it takes your breath away - and you just can't stop putting the beads together, making up more projects and stringing until you run out of beads. This was one of those projects!

This particular combination of the Flower Jade, the brass beads and bead caps, the Gold Pearls, and the Jonquil Satin crystals is so perfect - it makes my heart sing. The delicate translucency of the jade makes it look like some peeled fruit, like gooseberries or lychees. The shimmer of the pearls is the counterpoint, and the crystals makes the combination open and airy. Extensive use of crimp beads keep open spaces that transform relatively large beads into a piece that has a light and delicate look.

I started by cutting apart the strands of Jade beads and sorting them by colour, so that I could use like-colours together.

The multi-strand floating necklace uses crimp beads above and below each element or bead assembly to keep them in place. The Extreme Gold Softflex is so pretty - it adds such a nice decorative element to this piece.
