Breath of Spring

by: Jennifer Tough

This was probably the most fun I've had with an inspiration in quite some time! I would have kept going with more styles, and colours - but I ran out of components.
I've used a selection of metal components, some nail polish, and our metalFX.   I apologize for the blurriness of the process pictures - I took a bunch, but each one was blurrier than the last, and of course i'm out of components to make another.

Please see this blog post for more details on the process - and better pics!

The only nail polish I had on hand was OPI's Queen of Everything from Sephora. It's a metallic silver, which worked nicely for this project. If you use a clear nailpolish, the effects will most likely be a bit more subtle. I'll experiment some more once I purchase a bottle of clear polish.

You'll need a disposable paint brush - or one you don't mind ruining. You can keep using it, but save it for this project. Nail polish remover may ruin the bristles of a cheap brush.

1) Lay out your components

2) Select your colours of metalFX, and place a pinch or two of each colour onto a paper towel.

3) Apply a very thin layer of nailpolish to one of the leaves or flowers on the metal component. Quickly, before the nailpolish dries - use your paintbrush to dab on the metalFX. You can brush it around, or just leave it. Brushing it thins out the coating somewhat. Try both methods to see which look you like better.

4) Continue painting each area of the metal component you want covered.

Allow to completely dry before you assemble your jewelry. Brush off any excess metalFX.

On the bracelet, I snipped off the links on each end of one of the flower components. I curved both the base filigree, and the flower component, by pressing them against my wrist.
Using e6000, glue to flower component to the filigree. Allow to dry.

The bracelet is then assembled using 22 gauge artistic wire, and a few swarovski crystals.
