My first exposure to looking for and collecting fossils came through a trip to Rock Glen Conservation Area (near Arkona, Ontario) as a 12 year-old Girl Guide. Since then, I’ve had a fascination with fossils and other "old" things that people dig up.
When we introduced
Turritella Agate, I was thrilled to see the fossils in the stone
pieces. I matched them with Smoky Quartz which picks up the colour
perfectly. The Vintaj Dragonfly is very "ancient-looking" too because it
seems like the husk of a dried, preserved dragonfly.
The necklace is a combination of wire-wrapped loops connecting the Turritella beads and brass rings. The Smoky Quartz nuggets are strung together and connected to the ovals before finishing the crimps. If you forget to add the oval before finishing the crimp, just attach them with jumprings. Instead of using crimp covers, I used the bighole beads to cover the crimps.
