Ever sit and watch dragonflies over a pond on a hot summer day? They move so fast ? they almost seem to disappear and reappear elsewhere. Backwards too ? no wonder they seem magical!

Matching colours complement this Black and Gold Dragonfly, but you could pick your favourite colour dragonfly button and choose complementary pearls to go with it!

Secret Tip. The metal loop (shank) on the back of the button may be oriented so that the dragonfly lines up with the strands instead of 90 degrees. To change this, firmly but gently grasp the metal shank with the end of your chain nose pliers, and turn the button to change the alignment. It should be able to survive a quarter turn without snapping or breaking. (Mine did!)

To string - thread the big eye needle with the stretchy opelon thread - string your pearls to approx half the length you will need, then the button, then the other half of the pearls.

Do this three times, temporarily securing the threads with a clothespin or binder clip.

Adjust the lengths till all three strands match. The strand of black pearls was shorter than the gold, so I put some of the gold beads on the black strand, and it looks very nice.

Once the length is right, knot all the strands together at once (three strands from the left on one side, and three strands from the right, and then a surgeons knot of all three.) Cover the knot with a crimp cover. The gold pearls and the gold crimp cover blend perfectly.
