New This Week

Pearls of Unusual Size The Dread Pirate Roberts would have approved of these – for these are Pearls of Unusual Size. And if these don’t make you feel like a Princess Bride – I don’t know what will! We could guess that these came from Oysters of Unusual Size, but, in fact – they are Swarovski pearls – so they only came from Packages of Unusual Size. This week – we are adding 14 mm pearls to the pearl line up. These are the statement pearls – the pearls for making the big and chunky jewelry that comes into fashion, …

Happy Update Day

Good morning – technically, it’s still morning – sorta 🙂 My computer is extremely unhappy today, so I’m going to shut down until later tonight for the update. Fingers crossed that it’s nothing serious, but it’s crashing every few minutes. It’s a mac, and I have no idea how to fix it. Found this on Pinterest, and since I can’t actually do anything on the computer, I’ll go do just that! Source: Uploaded by user via Belle on Pinterest Cheers – go bead something!

We had a blast!

The class on sandblasting lampwork beads was – well – ok shoot me – it was a BLAST! We had so much fun! This past weekend, we hosted Jeri Warhaftig and her husband Neil to come and install new sandblasting equipment in the lampworking studio. So much awesome! We now have a fully functional, professional grade sandblasting unit for glass, appropriate for doing beads and larger glass pieces – up to the size of plates and glasses and vases even. It’s pretty roomy! We’ll be writing up a procedure guideline and making it available for folks to come in and …

The Business Chat – Forests and trees

Oh boy! After a break of a couple of months I’m back in my studio making jewelry! I have so many new ideas! Craft show season starts in 3 weeks, I want a new booth and some new displays, I have so many new ideas! I’ve been rethinking my web presence and I came up with a brilliant (sheer brilliance I tell you) new strategy. So many ideas! I’ll get to them just as soon as I’ve cleaned the car, finished the spare room rearranging, run my errands (40 km drive to the other side of town) and hosted that …

Random Bits of Crafty Inspiration

Happy Friday! I think the rain has finally stopped, and it appears that it might just stay away for the entire weekend – which would be just lovely. While blog hopping this week, I came across a few inspired little projects that would be perfect for displays at any upcoming craft shows you may have.  These would be perfect little changeable signs – For lampworkers, these would be perfect as price point signs.  Found on the Little Bit Funky Blog.                                                                                         Source: Uploaded by user via Brandi on Pinterest You may be wondering about this one….I think this would make …

New This Week!

The Girl with the Coral | Jade | Lapis Pearl No longer is a pearl just a pearl. Because now, a pearl can be a gemstone pearl! Confused yet? 😉 The concept. A new look in Swarovski pearls. Pearls that aren’t designed to look like pearls! The classic line of Swarovski pearls are artfully crafted to represent the best of the best in oyster creations – but this new line of “Gemcolour Pearls” is designed to emulate high-quality, natural, opaque gemstones such as Lapis, Jade, Coral, Ivory and Onyx.  The coral comes in three shades: red, pink, and coral. Actually …

Bling your nails

I was in the store on the weekend hosting our monthly metal clay play day. Stephanie, our resident bling queen also happened to be in teaching her crystal clay class. I don’t know what it is about the Swarovski crystals – I’m really not a very sparkly type person, but after spending a few minutes in her classroom, the desire to bling everything in sight with crystals overtakes me! 🙂 I gathered up my pretty sad collection of nail polish, (I know I had more, but my girls have absconded with most of the polish…), some fake nails, and a …
