For my April 2019 Bead Mat Update, I want to discuss a few of the things that I’ve been working on lately!
But what would you say if I told you that I’ve actually been thinking of many more projects? Sigh! There just isn’t enough time in anyone’s lifetime, to complete every idea my muse throws at me!! My brain hurts!! What’s a girl to do?
So, for my April 2019 bead mat update, I’ll just show you what I’ve been doing lately!
What do Resin, Beaded Art Dolls, and UFO’s have in common? Why, those are all workshops that I taught in April! It’s been a very busy month. Not only did I teach three workshops, but I also took one on Deconstructed Screen Printing, from the Colour Vie Studio! It was a fun challenge, juggling everything, while still keeping my sanity! Unfortunately, laundry, cleaning, and cooking, did suffer!
I demo a lot in my classes, but don’t always get a chance to finish projects! However, I must admit that I do love these little resin, and collage bottle caps. It’s always fun to work this small, yet end up with something that makes sense. I’m not sure which of these I like most, but you’re certainly welcome to give me an opinion. As is often the case, photographs do not show the depth of the colours!
In the UFO 2 Go class, I stitched a few doll forms, for my Beaded Art Doll class. I needed them by the weekend, so I guess it doesn’t really qualify as cheating!
In the Beaded Art Doll class, I started working on my Dancing Doll, but I’m afraid that I didn’t get very far. Back into the UFO box she goes! Believe it or not, I do have plans, but they keep on morphing, so it won’t be a quick progression! It’s funny how that happens, isn’t it?
Next up on my April 2019 bead mat update, is a little play with some of my older techniques. It doesn’t hurt to keep yourself from getting rusty, does it? I started with a little needle felted landscape, then puttered about with Artists Concrete. A lot of fun, and I’ll be chatting more about both techniques in the coming months!
Of course, I promised you something new, didn’t I? Well, right now it actually qualifies as a UFO, because I never seem to have the time to get around to finishing it! The stones are from my stash, and the paper beads were made years ago!! I’m glad that I’ve finally put them all to use!! This one should be finished shortly! By the way, BeadFX carries a fabulous selection of stones, leather, and findings! Some of them have even been used in this piece (but not the top ones, or the paper beads). I’m so in love with Mixed Media/Boho necklaces right now!
But wait! To keep my sanity, I’ve also been stitching, and not with beads. I’ve talked to you about my Stitch Meditations before (2” x 2”- Twinchies), but I’m also involved in the Instagram #100DayProject! Crazy, I know, but I’m collaging, and stitching #1- Shipping Tags! It’s an interesting challenge.
In May, I’m hosting a Stitch Meditation session, combining stitching, fabric, and de-stressing, and will also be re-running my popular Freeform Peyote Beaded Bead class. Neither requires any technique experience!
I’m not sorry that I’ve finished my April 2019 bead mat update, because that means Spring has finally arrived! April showers bring May flowers, and I’m happy to say, that I actually saw six open daffodils yesterday! There are exciting things afoot, and I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds!
