My May 2019 bead mat update is late in the month, but then so is spring in Toronto! But here it is, and believe it or not, we’ve even had a few, very nice days. Not enough yet, but you learn to take what you can get!
Nothing is better, than spending time with enthusiastic students! I love every minute of it, and it’s even better if you have something to show at the end of the day. My Freeform Peyote Beaded Bead class, last Sunday, was no exception! Of course, none of the beads were finished in the class (freeform takes extra time), but everyone left happy!
Here’s my bead, in all it’s unfinished denim glory! You don’t know how much agony I went through, to get the perfect mix of blues and greys!!! I over-purchased, of course, but that’s what always happens! But in my defense, I wanted the perfect summer bead!! Not to worry, there will be more denim projects in the future.
Organizing fabrics, is like trying to herd cats! An almost impossible task, but I try to persevere, in an attempt to bring order into my studio chaos!
Next up, on my May 2019 bead mat update, is a bit of a mystery! Look what I uncovered last weekend! None of these pieces are completely finished, but some are pretty close. But guess what? I don’t remember when, or why I was making them! A BeadFX class, a class somewhere else, but why were they abandoned? I guess that’s one mystery that will remain unsolved! However, they do remind me that I haven’t cranked up my Bernina lately, and it’s probably time for a little free-motion in my life! Plus, I’ve been ignoring my intuitive bead embroidery, but that will change, as I’m teaching a class on June 9th. Hello U.F.O.’s!!
I bet you can’t guess what I’m going to do with some of these old buttons? I’m not even sure, but I did spot something intriguing, so I plan to go for it!
Stitch Mediations, are still ongoing, and my class on the 23rd went well! I’m juggling three separate projects, and I have a teeny suspicion that they’re cutting into my beading time. Heck, I know it!!! But it doesn’t matter, because they keep me happy, and relatively stress free. Here are the last three “Twinchies”(2” x 2”) I stitched in May!
One of our BeadFX customers asked if I was going to use my Stitch Meditations, as decorative patches on clothing! I said no, but that I have considered ‘tarting’ up a jean jacket with some interesting stitching! I did purchase a denim vest at Valu Village (thrift store) last month, but it turns out that it’s a bit too small for me. I think that I’ll still add some patches, just for the hell of it!
Well, what do you think of my May 2019 bead mat update? It’s definitely light on current beading (I do miss it though), but it does get me dreaming, plotting, and pondering future possibilities. What do you think?
