Neither here nor there is another funny title for a blog post. That’s because I’m in one of those moods, where I really don’t have all that much to say. Okay, I always have stuff to say, but I guess the spirit just hasn’t moved me yet. So, let’s just get going!
My weekend was a working one, with me writing to a deadline. I met it, so all is good! But what that means, is that my creativity had to take a back seat. Of course, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t do anything, just not as much as I would have liked. I will play more next weekend.
So, I was neither here nor there! I did manage to take my first official Zoom class, so that’s a good thing. No, not beading, but fun just the same! My friend Cherryl, of Moote Points was teaching a 3-D bird class called PAX. A little paper, a little Zentangle, and a whole lot of fun!
I followed her tangling instructions on half of the bird, but turned rogue, and used hybrid, AMD techniques on the second side, after class. Oops! I never was good at colouring within the lines!! But that’s what creativity is all about, learning something new, then making it your own. My piece is not perfect, but I like it just the same! I think that I will leave this one as is, but I’ll definitely add some colour to the next one.
The weather has turned cooler, so I thought that I should whip up an autumn themed mask chain/leash! The 3 x 5 Exotic Spice Donut mix, from BeadFX was perfect for this, when I paired it with Miyuki 8/0 seed beads in Bronze Metallic. I added a focal bead, but confess that I messed up the placement, so this chain will need to be re-made. Next time, it will be 3” down from one end! I keep forgetting!!
Then, thinking more about the gentlemen (although perfectly suitable for the ladies too), I decided that this would be perfect to hang from those denim belt loops! This is the first in an “Inspiration” key chain series, but the others are only a twinkle in my eye, so you’ll need to wait!
You’re obviously starving for more beads, by now, so how about these beaded spools that I made last year? I’ve been thinking that I might add to the series. Photo browsing helps to cement ideas in my mind! Is it a yes, or is it a no?
After I met my writing deadline, I decided to relax with a little Stitch Meditation, by making more Doodle Bits! I just love these little devils!!! I keep asking people what they would do with them, and one of these days, I will publish a list of everyone’s suggestions. But not today!
I have one more thing to show you!! This homemade mark-making tool, reminded me that I need to pull out my Gelli Plate soon, and do some mono-printing. This tool is made out of empty toilet paper rolls. I made it several years ago, after I found the inspiration on the internet (somewhere)!!! It gets better with age, and a whole lot of paint! How’s that for a creative re-use idea?
Neither here nor there is now finished, but I hope to give you more beady meat soon. But do excuse me, if it takes me a while, because remember, I’m an intuitive artist. My ideas are likely to change like the wind!!
Keep safe, social distance, wear a mask, and wash your hands!
