My January 2021 Bead Mat Update is mixing it all up again! But what else would you expect out of me?
I added a new beaded path, to my free form peyote ‘Dancing’ piece, during the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. The new path, includes the large green heart, that signifies hope, and renewal. Would you believe that I looked down at my bead mat, and there it was? Strange, isn’t it? Where did it come from?
I stitched a new orb, and this one is Indigo! What’s next? A beaded one? Perhaps I should stop thinking, and just do!
Next up on my January 2021 bead mat update, and speaking of obsessions! I told you that I was taking a year-long bookmaking class, from my friend Cherryl Moote. Well, I’m already ‘winging it’, by adapting her interlocking book cover, so I could use up four of my 4” x 4” Stitch Meditations, plus a bunch of my Stitch Bits (they were an intuitive choice). No real “interlocking” going on, as now it’s more of a fibre sleeve cover. Yes, there are a lot of photos, but it is a book! Luckily, only a single signature book!
I brushed some peach tea on the pages, then followed up with homemade walnut ink. Thanks to Debi for thinking of me, and to Marg for hand delivering the black walnut shells. It’s the first time I’ve tried making it, and although it’s not a particularly strong brew, I do like the soft effect!
A funny story about the tea! I purchased a couple of new brands, but noticed that I had some decaf peach tea in the cupboard. So, I brewed up a cup, and also one of my new, Decaf Pumpkin Spice. I tested both on paper, then decided I liked the subtle colouring of the peach best. However, I also tasted both teas, and they were yummy, so I was really torn. To drink or not to drink? The Pumpkin Spice won out for drinking, but I did manage to get more than a few sips of the Peach in as well.
Remember my Sodalite bracelet? Well, now it’s fixed!! No more crimping errors for me, until the next time!
Here’s the start of a brand-new project! The problem being, that I have no idea if it’s going to be a bracelet, bead embroidery, or a necklace. I picked out the Miyuki Delicas, before the Czech Glass beads. They weren’t intended to go together, but they do look nice, don’t they? I wonder?
That’s it for my January 2021 bead mat update, but the story will continue. There will be new handmade books in February, perhaps a beaded orb, and who knows what else I will get up to? I hope that at the end of this mess, that we all have a ton of new beaded projects to show off!!
Keep safe, social distance, wear a mask, and wash your hands!
