Bloom into Lazy Daze!

Bloom into lazy daze is going to be my motto for this month. No particular reason, but I do like flowers, so I might show you a few more during the month of June.

With Covid and all, I decided to buy flowers for my balcony, the first time in a couple of years. I figure that if I’m going be spending quality time out there, I might as well have something pretty to look at. Nothing fancy, just a couple of pots of deep pink (or are they magenta?) geraniums, plus a mixed basket. I even added ivy to the geraniums, to tart the pots up a little. Here’s an idea! What if I dry a few of the flowers, for when I break out the Ice Resin again.

I also pulled out a couple of my empty pots, but just need another trip to the garden centre, to see if there’s anything that strikes my fancy. Basil, chives, thyme, and perhaps sage! But what about lettuce?

No flowers in this necklace, but it does remind me of summer. It will be an “Inspiration”, as soon as I write it up for Dwyn (so she can take the ‘good’ photos).

It started here:

I was going for a single strand, but at the last minute, decided to add another. The second strand is removable, so you get three necklaces for the price of one! It was a fun one to design!

Warning! The frosted glass beads are listed at 40% off, and they have been discontinued by our supplier, so get them before they’re gone. You don’t need to follow my colour cues, so don’t worry if the colours that I’ve chosen, either don’t suit your fancy, or are no longer available. When I write up the “Inspiration”, I will give you other options to consider.

I just picked this selection up yesterday, and it’s another inspiration-to-be. Not my normal colour palette, but it certainly fits into the bloom into lazy daze theme! There will be wire, and there will be flowers, and I will try to fit in everything else! Wish me luck!!

I’ve finished resting up from my #the100dayproject marathon, so I needed to decide what I wanted to work on first. Of course, my version of a Stitch Meditation scroll popped into my mind, but I guess that’s natural! I call it my Double-sided Doodle Roll! It’s 1 ½” x 34”, and includes some of my Doodle Bits. It has no real purpose, other than decorative, but members of the SM group, keep giving me suggestions. Some of their ideas included cuff bracelets, belts, wall hangings, and even suspenders!!! Sorry ladies, but not this time.

Of course, I may need to design a class around the cuff bracelet idea, but that’s for later in the year.

I showed you some of my handmade artist brushes (with feathers) in last week’s blog post, but what do you think of this one?

It turns out that I’m actually afraid to spoil it by dipping it in ink! So I made a tester, and plan to make marks with it soon. The feathers fit tight enough (in the hole I drilled), that I didn’t need to glue them in place. They are actually replaceable, so why am I still scared?

I ordered the feathers on Amazon, but was expecting them to be light grey. Instead, I got Lavender!!! I didn’t complain, but I really did want the grey. Some of the feathers are quite long, so I’m not sure how well they will work.

As I progress with my bloom into lazy daze theme, it makes me wonder what you’re doing to fill your social distancing time. I hope that you’ve re-discovered your creativity, and are busy either making things, or working with your hands. It doesn’t really matter what it is, but if BeadFX can help, just let us know. Gardening does count, but you can’t stay outside all day, because you’ll end up all freckled and wrinkly!! Beads are much kinder to your complexion!

Keep safe, social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and get vaccinated!
