Nanofil – single filament beading thread – according to the manufacturer – it is “Ultrathin, ultrastrong, near-invisible, and stronger than steel. Pretty big claim. However –
I am currently test-driving a bracelet made with it, and I have so say – so far – I am pretty impressed. It is a single filament – so no fuzzing out when trying to thread, and it is pretty near invisible, and I even took the risky move of threading it right through the metal link on the magnetic clasp – which I would never do with thread. I would not do that as a regular rule, but, gotta test it, right?
So far, it’s good. By the way – the bracelet is 4mm firepolish and Ginkos, which fit together beautifully – one strand of firepolish and one tube of Ginkos and a clasp.
Not sure that the Nanofil will replace thread – it is thinner, but I think it has it’s own place. I tried the 4lb, the lightest – you can see, or not see, it in the following picture.
Requests! Did you know we take requests?
Some cases, we can special order an item. In other cases, if we think enough people will want them – we just add it to our product line. I figure that for every person that asks for something specific, there are probably a bunch more that do want it, but haven’t asked.
So we had a request for clear glass cabs, 12mm, and “can you get some that are 6mm deep, and some that are 4mm deep, please?” Wow – well – turns out – we could. They are quite fun to look at – the deep ones are half-spheres, you could almost glue two together and make a round ball. The others are a
more typical profile.
What would you make? Eyes? Dots? Bumps?
Also – by request … Crystal Lane tiny faceted donut rondelles. We got an email last week – do you have the tiny 1.5×2.5mm Crystal Lane rondelles? – and are they in with the seedbeads – because they are tiny, or are they in with the rondelles, or … ? That was a good question, but we didn’t have them anywhere.
Now we do! and the answer is – they have their very own category – CL Rondelles – because instead of just getting the tiny ones – we went ahead and got the 3x4mm, the 4x6mm, the 6x8mm, and the 8x10mm, as well as the 1.5×2.5mm. It’s donut-city! (They kind of look irregular in the photos, but that is the reflections – the highlights coming out the same as the background.) So – you asked – and we added a whole new category!
So – there you have it for this week.
As always – all the new stuff is here
