June 2021 Bead Mat Update: Getting back on track!

My June 2021 bead mat update, is all about getting back on track. But that’s not all, it’s my promise to myself, to get right back into the swing of things.

I think that I’ve been in a creative slump, and had spread myself too thin. The 100 Day Project was a high creative period for me, but things are a little flat these days. I normally follow a creative period, with another creative period, where I might be creating different things, but I’m always creating something.

I’m trying to bead a little every week, but that’s not all, I also want to stitch more. No, not total absorption in Stitch Meditations again, but I do want to obtain some balance.

First up on my June 2021 bead mat update, is a pin that I made for my jean jacket. Wool felt + fabric scraps + text + stitch + three little beads + kilt pin! Thanks Dwyn (and BeadFX) for sourcing the kilt pins!

I finished the wire and bead collage pendant, that I showed you last week.

This has definite potential, so you will be seeing more of these in the future.

Next, re-stock some components, add a nice chain, then an “Inspiration” write-up

Now on to Dwyn’s flowers! I decided to add them to a narrow, driftwood stick. But what is it? Just a decorative piece!

I think that Dwyn needs to put some of these flowers in the store, on consignment. Don’t you?

This is where I started.

I decided to stitch a bottle. My plan includes stitch, and a dash of beading, mixed in with a little imagination.

Looks pretty boring!

Right now, it’s a FrankenBottle!

I need to do some tea, rust, and Eco-dyeing, to build up my paper supplies.

Here’s an example of some of my tea, and rust dyed papers from earlier months.

I love the grey tones that you get from this process.

I haven’t been doing much photography lately, but here’s a few iPhone shots from last Sunday. Damn, what would we do without our phones?

It’s looking very lush!

My June 2021 bead mat update is finished, but I still have tons of creative projects to focus on. I’ve had my second shot, so in a couple of weeks, I will start designing some in-person classes. Is there anything that you would like to see on the fall roster?

Keep safe, social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and get vaccinated!
