Back on the Path Again!

After the Easter break, I’m happy to say that I’m back on the path again! At least for now, but who knows what I’ll get up to next week, because I sure don’t. To celebrate, I played with a new type of resin, made a set of earrings, and then wire wrapped loops on a string of colourful Mixed Impression Jasper stones that’s been gathering dust in my stash (we’re sold out of that particular shape, but we do have others). As usual, I have no idea where this is going, so please bear with me.

The resin I was experimenting with is quite similar to Ice Resin, but as I’m stress testing, simply poured it into silicone molds (with the addition of Jet Age Powders), and didn’t get too fancy. It takes longer to dry, is beautifully clear, not at all smelly, UV resistant, and has low VOC’s (whatever that means). I’ll play a little more on the weekend, to see if it will stand up to some of my more complicated nonsense. Of course, I will also try out some of my colourants on the next batch.

I’ve had the Chrysocolla plug beads for a while, and it’s about time I made a pair of simple earrings out of them. Wire wrapped loops, sterling silver balls, a bit of chain, and ear wires are all it takes to make these perfect for everyday wear.

Speaking of my Mixed Impression Jasper, I’m thinking of pairing it with antique brass rounds, and perhaps this string of “out of this world” Olivine. The Jasper is a tad showy, and needs a little calming (hence the Olivine). Don’t tell anybody, but it probably didn’t come out of nature in that exact configuration, but it is cool!

I’m happy to say that I finished (at least for now) the Embellished Orb that I used as a demo piece in last month’s workshop. I may add a few beads to it later, but then again, I may not! Only time will tell!!

I’ve hopped on the watercolour, and acrylic ink train for most of my 100 Day Project pieces this week. As usual some I like, and others not so much. It’s actually interesting to see some of the reactions I get on my least favourites! There are actually people who disagree with me. Shocking!

Okay, this one has stitch as well!
I did rush this one a bit, but I still love it despite it’s flaws!

I haven’t given up on reading my escapist novels, but do admit to getting tired eyes, so I’m rationing myself for a change.

Now that I’m back on the path again, I hope to keep up the momentum, and finish up (or even start) a few more projects. What are you doing, and is anyone willing to share?

Keep safe, social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and get vaccinated!
