Changes to Shipping

Canada Post has increased shipping charges again, and removed across-the-country rates for packages.  This time, we can’t just absorb it.  We will continue to offer you great shipping rates, giving you the discounted prices for packages that we get for large volume – which is a significant savings over what you would pay at the post office. For orders under $100, our actual shipping cost applies. For orders over $100, we will give you a $4.00-per-$50-spent bonus. Shipping is calculated at the bottom of the shopping cart, based on your postal code, showing your bonus. If you forget something – …

Website Maintenance

And, we’re back. Whew. That was not an easy birth. Our server upgrade was finished by lunch – if you are having one of those days when you get lunch at 11 p.m. We are still metaphorically mopping up the electrons and putting the bytes back on the shelves. If you have any problems or notice anyweirdness on the site, shoot us an email. If you see a banner on the site that says we are down for maintenance, close your browser and start again. We appreciate the heck out of your patience!

Service Interruption – Website Maintenance

We are scheduled for a server maintenance day on Tuesday (Feb 19). We need to count the bits and polish up the electrons. (Actually – we are moving to a new server.) If you go to the site and it says “Maintenance” at the top of the page – that is what is going on. Thank you for your patience!

Mixed Media Mess: What a dilemma!

BeadFX Blog Post – March 11th, 2020 – Anne Marie Desaulniers Mixed media mess, seems to be the story of my life, right now! Working with multiple supplies, stash, and techniques take money, time, and space, but it’s so satisfying! I’m not sure who hardwired my brain, but it definitely leans towards the unconventional! Is that a good thing? I like to think so, but some might have other ideas. I decided long ago, that it simply doesn’t matter, because I’m just happy to be me! But I must confess, that I really haven’t been very creative lately, but that’s …

Glittering Chain, Stan’s Hearts

Glittering Chain Rhinestone chain – also called cup chain, for the little cups that contain the stones. These are quite a bit daintier than I am used to seeing, being only about 3mm across. These would make lovely dangly chain earrings, you would just need a few inches, and you add a loop to the end for hanging with these cupchain end connectors. What I find really quite charming about this chain is the mechanism for holding the stones in the cups – sort of folded over loopy handles, instead of the usual prong method. Looks less – pointy and …

A brief primer on Filters

Less is more, and less hassle searching for what you want is definitely more better. 😉 All the Swarovski pearls are in the one category now, so you can see them all side by side, instead of hopping from page to page to find the right color in the size you want. Or you can use the color or size filters to show just the ones you want. i.e. click to select the size or colour you want, and you can select more than one … click on it again to de-select. Does that make sense? If not, email me …

The Kids move home …

The Quarter Tila and Half Tila beads have moved back in with their parents, the full Tilas. Just when you think you can rent out the kid’s room, they move back in. Look for a filter to appear on the page shortly so that you can see just one size if you like, but this way, you can pick coordinating and matching colors more easily. In addition to bead-weaving projects, these dainty two-hole beads make great stretchy-bracelets.

A little re-organizing

Just did a little re-organizing in the Swarovski section – moved the pendants into their own top-level category, so now it is: Swarovski Beads And Swarovski Pendants The distinction is that the beads have a hole running the length of them, and the pendants have a side to side or front to back hole near the top. So it is not a size thing – the smallish briolettes and even the top-drilled bicones are in the pendant section now. Hope that helps you find what you are looking for – or stumble over something you didn’t know that you needed! …

Website Changes: All the Findings R Moved

Thank gawd – all the findings are now moved. What a job. I feel like I’ve been moving actual boxes, instead of electrons. Next week – I’ll tackle moving the items in the Components section. That’s only 2400+ items. Some of them can stay there, but clearly – there are findings in there. Hello bead caps! Clearly – this was a task long overdue!

Website Changes

As you may have noticed – we’ve been madly making changes to the website. Some of the have been great – some did not happen quite the way we anticipated. C’est la vie. C’est la web development. One of the things that we are working on it making it work on as many platforms as possible – which is to say – it should work on your desktop, your laptop, your tablet, your phone, and whatever else they are going to invent next. Implants? Those too. I asked Dan if I could quote what he has to say about this, …
