Hot Connections: Marriage of Metals

December 7, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Cdn $100.00 +Kit fee: $60, payable to the instructor the day of the class.

Course outline: In this class with Iris Rogers Melamed, we will explore the process of creating patterns from four different metals – sterling silver, copper, brass and bronze. Starting with a basic structure, we will progress through cutting and rearranging to make unique designs that will then be transformed into jewellery. You will not necessarily make the pieces shown – yours will be your one of a kind patterns and jewelry. Through this process we will be soldering multiple times, using different techniques. We will also use the flexshaft and various attachments to refine and finish our pieces.

Skill level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: Must have taken at least Hot Connections 1: Intro to Soldering

Technique: Combining different types of metals to create patterns, multiple soldering joins, soldering from the stick, working with the flexshaft to clean up pieces.

Bring to class: Glasses and magnification tools (if required), dust mask, patience and imagination!

Of special note: the class patterns and instructions from our classes are for your personal use only. Please respect the intellectual property of our artists/instructors by not sharing, selling, or teaching the patterns you receive from the classes you take.
