In-Store: Jewellery Basics: Crimps and Loops


Course outline:

Start 2022 creatively! In this class with designer Pamela Kearns, you’ll learn all about the basics – crimping, wire loops, jump rings – as well as learning about the tools you’ll need for jewellery making. Along way, you’ll design create a crimped bracelet with a pair or two of earrings. This a perfect class for first-time students.

Type of class: This is a physical class in the Classroom. The class will be kept small (no more than 8 students). Everyone will be required to wear a mask at all times during the class.

Kit fee: $15.00 payable to the instructor the day of the class. Kit includes:

  • Detailed written instructions,
  • all the silvertone findings needed for a bracelet and earrings including beading wire, clasp, headpins, eyepins, and earwires.
  • Students will provide their own beads.

Skill level: Beginner

Prerequisite: Bring your enthusiasm!

Technique: Basic jewellery skills: crimping, open/closing jump rings, simple loops, wrapped loops

Bring to class:

Students will provide their own beads; time will be available during class to choose beads.

Pamela Kearns

Although a seed beader at heart, Pam has been branching out into new techniques and combining the best of all worlds into her creations. She had her first project published in the May/June 2013 issue of Beadwork. Pam taught at the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Bead and Button Shows in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A problem solver, Pam thoroughly enjoys teaching and inspiring students to think beyond basic techniques encouraging students to stamp their own vision on projects. To ensure that all students can accomplish the techniques, Pam (also a 'southpaw) includes 'Lefty-Alerts' within her class instructions.
