Mostra Box and Pendant with visiting instructor Jean Power

Add dimension to your peyote skills!

This stunning design combines a geometric pendant and beaded rope with their own optional storage & display vessel. The pendant & vessel combine some of Jean Power‘s unique beading techniques to create spectacular and variable beadwork and each component can be beaded by itself without any obligation to do the rest.

Type of class: Virtual. A few days prior to the class you will be sent an email containing the class instructions and the electronic link to the Zoom class.

Skill level: Intermediate.

Prerequisite: You must be very comfortable with peyote stitch and following instructions.

Technique: Geometric peyote

Have for class:

For all pieces:

  • Beading needles of choice
  • Thread – I recommend a flexible thread i.e. NOT Fireline but instead something like One G, KO, Miyuki Thread or Nymo. However if you only like working in Fireline then please do use it and I will address any potential issues in class.

Each Mostra Pendant uses:

  • 1 x 14mm Swarovski Rivoli #1122
  • 5g size 11 Delica beads
  • 1g size 15 Miyuki seed beads

The rope uses:

  • 10g size 15 Miyuki seed beads
  • 3g size 11 Delica beads

The Mostra Vessel uses:

  • 1g size 15 Miyuki seed beads
  • 23g size 11 Delica beads (10g in the ‘Lid’ and 13g in the ‘Base’)

The colours I used: (of course you can use your own colours!)

  • Gold Delica: #1833
  • Gold Miyuki seed bead: #4202
  • Rivoli: Sapphire
  • Turquoise Blue Delica: #2130
  • Mid-Blue Delica: #2133
  • Darkest Blue Delica: #2135

I'm an award-winning jewellery designer, writer and teacher based in London, England. I first began making jewellery in 2001, having already spent many years painting as well as exploring different aspects of fibre and textile arts. Whilst I continue some of these interests, beading is my main love and I try to use them in conjunction with my other interests. I am fortunate to get to travel the UK, and the World, teaching and sharing my work and am available for private 1-2-1 or small group classes for bead groups, shops etc. When not teaching I love working on new designs and have a range of instructions available on www.jeanpower.com, Etsy and bead-patterns.com. In addition to many projects and articles published worldwide, I am the author of eight books on beading and jewellery making (books 9 & 10 are currently in progress) and was the editor of a beading magazine for four years. I have also filmed many videos on beading and 2 DVDs are available to purchase here. If you live in, or are planning to visit London, why not visit my other website Beading in London for more information.
