Ringing in December classes

‘Tis the Season! No matter what you celebrate – Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa – December is a time for celebrations. Many of these celebrations involve gift giving – a simple act of showing appreciation and love to another. How do BeadFX classes connect to this? Well, how about: Give a gift certificate that the recipient can use for a future class of their choice. This will be particularly appreciated by those have expressed an interest in learning a new skill or adding to their jewellery-making technique toolbox. Contact the store or order your gift certificate on-line. Treat a friend or …

Happy New Year!

When September rolls around, it is like a brand new year! School starts again with students going into a new grade. Routines get back in place and we make ‘Fall’ resolutions, like ‘We’re going to paint the living room in time for the holidays’, or, I’m going to enroll in new jewellery classes this fall’. If you had a chance to drop by BeadFX on September 7, you would have seen the new class offerings and met the terrific people presenting …

December 2017 Bead Mat Update: Ending the year with a whisper!

My December 2017 Bead Mat Update, is the perfect ending to the year! My muse is quietly whispering in my ear, and that bodes well for 2018! Did you make any holiday gifts this year? I did, but not as many as previous years. Why, you ask? Timing, inspiration, lazy muse, work, or perhaps just a lack of steam! All contributed, but no excuses allowed. Unfortunately, no photos of my away gifts, but here are some simple earrings I made. Isn’t it amazing, how you can turn sparkles, and a little sterling chain, into a simple, but elegant gift? I …

November 2017 Bead Mat Update: Exploring my options!

My November 2017 bead mat update, is all over the place! Should I blame the weather, the upcoming season, or admit that I need to play? I am full of creative ideas, but I’m not always organized! Both Intuitive Bead Embroidery, and Artist Trading Cards (using paper collage, paint, and stamps), are on my November schedule. Is it any wonder that I’m confused? They are very different animals, though both very freeform in nature! This piece is a sample from a previous workshop. I made the cabochon! Is it a landscape, or a seascape? Why is it so organized?? Where …

July Bead Mat Update – To goal or not to goal!

My July bead mat update is all about working on neglected projects and supplies. Will I be able to attain my goals? I would like to finish something! Challenges are always good, and it will certainly be fun to try!! Why don’t I have time to finish all of my projects? Do I bite off more than I can chew? Or should I just blame it on the class samples I need to make? Each time I teach a class, I end up with at least one more sample to finish, and more than a few leftover supplies. Is my …
