Gifts and Stuff – Oh the possibilities!

Gifts and stuff are definitely the stars in this blog post! No, not an instructional post, but rather an exploration of possibilities. I’ve been making presents, for friends and family, for most of my adult life! I don’t have photos of earlier ones, but I’ve been keeping records of my favourites, for quite a few years. Not all were actually gifted, but all would be appropriate. Sit back, relax, and enjoy my gifts and stuff show! Retro is good! Let’s start out with a few favourites! Many were workshops, but somehow I managed to squeeze a few gifts out of …

Scary Times: What to do?

Scary times are definitely upon us! It’s not something that we’ve ever dealt with, at this scale, in our own lifetime. What the heck are we supposed to do? Do whatever the disease experts, common sense, and our governments tell us to do!!! Scary times are here, so we need to take drastic action! That takes a concentrated, and united effort, from ALL of us!! Social distancing, voluntary self quarantine (if you are experiencing any signs/symptoms), but with all of this, don’t forget the basic rule of washing your hands!!! The shelves are empty of Lysol Wipes, hand sanitizer, and …

Play is Good: But beading is even better!

Play is good, especially when you’re teaching a group of very enthusiastic students! I love teaching, but that’s not all, I also love my enthusiastic students!! It’s no secret, that my interests are quite varied, but this month seems to be covering it all. I taught my Needle felted Landscape Pendant class on the 29th, but then I turned around and taught a Resin class the very next day! After working all week, I should be exhausted, but strangely enough, I’m not! When you gather together a group of students, you never really know what to expect, but I must …

Long and Luscious: For the ears, of course!

It’s pretty bad when you start dreaming of long and luscious, seedbead earrings! I don’t have a lot of experience wearing long earrings, but I think that I’m tempted to try. My only real exposure to long earrings, were those giant Sterling Silver hoops, that I used to wear, and my freeform peyote earrings (I’ve even taught a class about them, but probably not on the schedule until the summer). Other than that, my earrings have been fairly subdued. I have been known to wear a pair, with single stones on a long chain, but other than that, nada! Even …

December 2018 Bead Mat Update: Greetings from this part of the world!

My December 2018 bead mat update came way too soon! How can it possibly be December 26th? Rats!! I’m not sure that I accomplished as much as I wanted to this year!!! Aren’t the goals we set for ourselves crazy? Sometimes they work, and at other times, they don’t. However, one thing that I do know, is that we never have time to do everything we want to do! The older we get, the seemingly busier we get, and that isn’t about to change!!!! So, we might as well just go with the flow, and take it easy on ourselves. …

Bead-A-Muse: What is this?

What do you think of the term Bead-a-Muse? Or perhaps I should call it Craft-a-Muse? I was actually thinking of writing about collecting beads, in this blog post (and believe me, I do!). However, my ideas tend to be fluid, so somehow collecting ended up as a post about Bead-a-Muse. When I Googled Bead-a-Muse, it came up with a variety of very different images, including dolls, some beaded objects, and a collection of miscellaneous images. Not exactly what I was looking for!!! Here’s my first muse – Fibrella!! Some have even called her my alter-ego! Could it be our inner …

UFO 2 Go: Make plans to complete the aventure!

When I say UFO 2 Go (unfinished objects), how do you react? With confusion, interest, or perhaps abject terror! For me, it’s all of the above! Just the other day, the phrase UFO 2 go popped into my brain, as I was sorting through stuff in preparation for my Stitch Bits (aka Stitch Meditation) class this Thursday. One thing led to another, as I pulled more and more stuff out of the boxes, and realized that I had a whole lot of finishing to do! Okay, not everything I’m going to show you is really old, but I’m certainly not …
