Mixing it Up Again! Or so it seems.

I’m mixing it up again, now that August is over, and the switch to fall is sneaking up to us. The weather is still lovely, but the nights are more comfortable for sleeping. The kids are back in school, the leaves haven’t turned yet, and the moms have more time to work on their own projects. This piece is from 2012, and is another of my favourites! It contains intuitive bead embroidery, free motion machine embroidery, hand embroidery, and even some ruching. It definitely represents my “mixing it up” mood, and is a piece that I made, just because I …

What’s Old is New Again: Isn’t that the truth?

What’s old is new again, and I’m not just saying it! Of course, what’s old is also old, but that’s what memories are made of. Not to mention, what’s new, is still new, but that’s another story. First up is one of my favourite Bead Journal Project (BJP) series from the past. I never remember which year is which, and am too lazy to actually look it up, so let’s just say it might be 2009. This series is loosely based on colourful row houses. It was tons of fun, and includes many lasting memories. In each house, you will …

Simply Free – Beach Inspired necklace!

Inspiration Project Designed By Anne Marie Desaulniers Have you ever spent an early morning, listening to the sounds of the beach! Relaxing sights, and sounds caress you, as you calm your breath, and focus on the beauty that surrounds you. Life is good, and the world is put on pause! Simply free is the thought that came to mind, when I looked at the completed necklace. It started out as a challenge, to use our new Curved Tube beads (I like to call them noodles), but ended up with a necklace that echoed that beachy feeling. The colours calm as …

Rainy Evening Musings – Pondering the possibilities!

Aren’t rainy evening musings just the best? I get to sit in front of my computer, with the window open, listening to the sound of both heavy rain, and the traffic. It’s very relaxing, and rain softens that which could often be thought of as an irritation. Instead, it’s just white noise to dream, and ponder by! Last Saturday was exciting, because BeadFX held a Trunk Show, to benefit Ukraine. Not to brag, but yours truly snagged some serious loot! It was a blast! There was a definite party atmosphere happening, people were enjoying both the friendly atmosphere, and camaraderie. …

September 2021 Bead Mat Update: The bead goes on!

My September 2021 bead mat update is going to get a little nostalgic, so be prepared to see that the beat goes on! The reality is that I’ve been busy with non-beading/stitching activities, so I really don’t have much new to show you. However, I do have some ideas that I’d like to explore, that relate to past projects. I’m back working on my free form peyote ‘Dancing’ piece, but that’s all the current beading that I have to show this week. But, remember this Butterfly and Ladybug piece from a while back? It still needs a pin back, and …

Bloom into Lazy Daze!

Bloom into lazy daze is going to be my motto for this month. No particular reason, but I do like flowers, so I might show you a few more during the month of June. With Covid and all, I decided to buy flowers for my balcony, the first time in a couple of years. I figure that if I’m going be spending quality time out there, I might as well have something pretty to look at. Nothing fancy, just a couple of pots of deep pink (or are they magenta?) geraniums, plus a mixed basket. I even added ivy to …

Dreaming of Beads! Really?

I’m dreaming of beads, but what else is new? I’m close to the finish line with my #the100dayproject, so I will need to focus on other projects. Beads are definitely in the running! But first, here’s my weekly update on my free-form peyote ‘Dancing’ piece. A stash buster for sure, but it also relaxes me, and allows for a tight grip on my sanity. All this social isolation is starting to wear on me, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I work at BeadFX 5 days/week (I see people!), it would be even more difficult. Speaking of dreaming …

Creativity is Blooming – and that’s the truth!

Creativity is blooming, despite the current state of affairs. Exercise your imagination, follow the rules, and get your vaccination! I truly believe that’s the only way to recovery. Ontario is under a Stay-at-home order, until May 5th. Here are the details. BeadFX is still open for curbside pickup. Exercise your creativity, and bead your way out of it! Sort your beads, buy more (from BeadFX, but only if you need to), then get ready, and just go! My creativity is blooming in strange, and wonderful ways, and I’m excited to explore the possibilities! Here’s the latest on my free form …

Decisions, Decisions – or Transitions?

Decisions, decisions seem to be the story of my life right now. But then again, does this mean that transitions will also play a part? I seem to be in a transitional time of my life. Is it all Covid related, or does ageing also play a part? Probably both, but who’s complaining? I’m old enough to know better, so I’ll just base everything on decisions, decisions! As much as I wanted to focus on beading again, I’m afraid that other techniques have lured me away from my sparkly bits, and the almighty needle. Don’t worry, I haven’t abandoned my beads, …

Start a Conversation – with your beads!

If you start a conversation with your beads, you need to make sure that you’re listening. Okay, it doesn’t need to just be beads, but for the sake of BeadFX, I do need to put some emphasis on it. Let’s start with my latest BeadFX Inspiration. I pulled the beads fairly quickly, but when I actually started working with them, found that I didn’t buy everything I needed. So, back to the store, start beading, then return to store, for more stuff. LOL! I’m getting dizzy from all the back-and-forth nonsense. I let my muse have her head (as usual), …
