November 2020 Bead Mat Update – Lots to say about nothing!

My November 2020 bead mat update, has lots to say about nothing! But there’s certainly lots to do, so don’t worry about the state of this blog post. Toronto has gone back into lock down, for 28 days (count back to Monday), but that doesn’t mean that we’re not allowed to bead!!! Our retail doors have shut temporarily, but our on-line business is open 24/7. We’re ready to go, and have a 20% off almost everything in the store, sale on right now. No, we don’t fill your orders 24/7, because that would be crazy!! But the BeadFX computers are …

Bead Soup Mixes: Exploring the mystery!

Who doesn’t love bead soup mixes? Certainly not me!! I work with them so much, that I don’t really think about the colour theory part of it. But perhaps I should explore this subject a little further! Rosemary was de-stashing, and offered me a cool little book called “Beaded Colourways – Creating Freeform Beadweaving Projects and Palettes” by Beverly Ash Gilbert. Or, should I say new projects!!! Starting a bead embroidery, or freeform peyote project, requires a combination of new, and stash seedbeads. I add a dash of accent beads, then pour small, tidy piles of beads onto the bead mat. I don’t …

Bead soup is delicious!

Not only that, but bead soup contains zero calories! Doesn’t that sound impossibly fantastic? I must confess that I actually stole the bead soup idea from one of Dwyn’s recent Instagram posts, for beadfxbeads (it also posted our Facebook page). She was making a video for the store, but had a leetle beading accident, and ended up with a pile of bead soup! Okay, she didn’t call it an accident, but the story sounds better that way. LOL! Anyway, one lucky reader quickly guessed the right answer, and ended up with the pile, so all is good! Bead soup for …
