Nunn is New

Ha ha – not none – Nunn! New Nunn niceness! Pendant or charm bases – fill with resin, slices of polymer clay, bead around them, hang fabulous fringes off them, or whatever your creative muse desires. I know Anne Marie will be pleased to see these. 😉 Cabochons – can’t get enough of those cabochons – a few of the one of a kind items and some more replicate-able ones. Not to say that they are not individuals – but they are similar enough that we can probably get them again for you. OOAK – One of a Kind Cabochons …

Pink or Blue – the Big Reveal

Larry Mar, and his lovely wife Rhoda Chrosite (she kept her own name) – were expecting. They invited all their friends to come to the big reveal party. This was ok, because rocks don’t get COVID. Blue, … Or Pink? That was the question. Their friends all came – Chris O’Colla, And the Cup Rites. Not to be confused with the Cartrights – who are wheely different. Everything was moving so fast. Like Blue Lightning. “Oh my goodness,” said Rhoda. “This is too much. Larry, honey – please call these people a cab.” “Ok,” said Larry, “They are a cab.” He …

A Cab, A Chain, A Tassel – A Necklace!

Ooo – nice cabochons, you think to yourself. But I’m not about to start learning how to bead a bezel around them. If it doesn’t have a hole – I can’t use it. But still – nice. Fortunately, you don’t have to. Because the OlympiArt cabochons are what we in the biz call “Calibrated” – which means – they come in standard sizes that you can easily get findings for. And these 30x40mm ovals drop beautifully into these 30x40mm Gallery Ovals. Add some chain, and a tassel and you have a lovely necklace that can be a wide range of …

Pareidolia

Para-doll-ee-ah Pareidolia. Every once in a while, you run across a word that you didn’t know you needed, and you fall in love with it. Well – I do, anyway. Serendipity was my first. What a wonderful word! Susurration was another. Petrichor! Oh my!* And Pareidolia. The innate and pronounced ability of the human brain to see patterns and then translate them into something meaningful. Faces on Mars, religious icons on toast, etc. How about this? Tell me that you don’t see the number 30 there. I was so boggled – and this is the BACK of the stone, mind …

Call me a cab ….

Once upon a time – there was a deer lady … She was never considered foxy, But she had a soft spot for the Prince of Malta And her garden. Her garden was a riot of color. A dancing, weaving, blowing celebration of color, creativity and enthusiasm. Flowers from the four corners of the globe. And there were birds too. She loved to watch the hummingbirds zooming in and out of the flowers. And, of course, butterflies. You can’t keep out the butterflies. If you’ve done a good job with the garden, they just show up. She came home late …

A Parrot in a Mud Puddle

The mystery of transformation – the ugly duckling, the caterpillar, the ripening of an apple, or the transformation of humble seedbeads into glorious personal adornment. Perhaps this is the magic of Labradorite. The greenish gray pond – streaked with algae and floating bracken, touch it, move it slightly, and it leaps into life – like a blue sun flashing fire – a thousand Morpho’s fluttering to the sky, a parrot bathing in a mud puddle, the water streaming away toreveal the color and glory underneath. This week, my friends, we have for you, five One of a Kind Labradorite cabochons …

November 2019 Bead Mat Update

My November 2019 Bead Mat Update is a study in contrasts. As a mixed-up media artist, I feel that it’s my duty to show you a variety of projects, but that’s not all! I want to educate you, by showing both the good, and the bad! Okay, it’s not all bad, but I must admit that I’m not feeling all that creative these days. Mainly due to the fact that I’m in organizing mode, but also because my left and right brain, seem to be having a stand-off!  But I’m normally very creative, yet when I organize, my nit-picking, detail-oriented, …

OOAK – Pyritized Ammonite Negative

Wow. Just wow. This is not a fossil – rather it is an ancient imprint of the place where an ammonite shell once rested. A fossil footprint, so to speak. The imprints became impregnated with pyrite (hence the term pyritized), giving us a gleaming metallic impression of where a shell once sat in the mud. Wouldn’t you like to have one of these one-of-a-kind items? Now THAT is something different. Also, stunningly different. This amazing Specular Hematite cabochon. You might have to see this in person to see the wow factor. This one takes my breath away, not in a …

Cat’s Eye, Chakra, OOAK Cabs, Bit of a Hurry

Sorry folks – working on something BIG and suffering from a bit of a time crunch, so brace yourself, the update is coming atcha at the speed o’ light! Hang in there. Cats Eye & Eagle Eye This lovely shimmery natural Cat’s Eye is a far-cry from the man-made fiber-optic beads that are also called Cat’s Eye. Nothing wrong with those, they are pretty and fun, but this is the original, the inspiration, so to speak. And this will look amazing in your own handmade jewelry, whether you are making something office chic or evening elegant. Or for just making …
