Country-wide Fireworks kick off the Summer Classes!

July is just around the corner, and we have lots to celebrate including Canada Day and, for our southern neighbours, Independence Day. Enjoy the parties, fireworks and picnics! Our early-July classes feature four new projects! Gillian Clarke combines beads and chainmaille for two bracelets while Christine Woollacott will teach you how to create custom findings for your designs and how to create a simple post setting that you can use in a myriad of ways. There are so many demands on our time that it can be stressful to maintain hectic schedules. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and say, ‘I need to do something for me’. Recharging your batteries is required just to keep up! Our mid-June classes feature an array of jewellery making techniques from seed beading with Pamela Kearns, to chainmaille with Marilyn Gardiner and working with cement with Ann Shewan. Celebrate National Craft Month with a Class

What is the difference between art and craft? The question isn’t new and has sparked debates for years.  Both are definitely within the realm of creativity! One possible answer is that craft is has a predictable outcome – such as the crafting of a chair or piece of jewellery. It provides a product that has a purpose and use. Art, on the other hand, is unpredictable, doesn’t have a specific use (such as a painting or sculpture) and is used to evoke thought and emotion. Of course, this is a very simplistic explanation and doesn’t cover those ‘in-between’ creative activities! …
