Dreaming of Beads! Really?

I’m dreaming of beads, but what else is new? I’m close to the finish line with my #the100dayproject, so I will need to focus on other projects. Beads are definitely in the running! But first, here’s my weekly update on my free-form peyote ‘Dancing’ piece. A stash buster for sure, but it also relaxes me, and allows for a tight grip on my sanity. All this social isolation is starting to wear on me, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I work at BeadFX 5 days/week (I see people!), it would be even more difficult. Speaking of dreaming …

Start a Conversation – with your beads!

If you start a conversation with your beads, you need to make sure that you’re listening. Okay, it doesn’t need to just be beads, but for the sake of BeadFX, I do need to put some emphasis on it. Let’s start with my latest BeadFX Inspiration. I pulled the beads fairly quickly, but when I actually started working with them, found that I didn’t buy everything I needed. So, back to the store, start beading, then return to store, for more stuff. LOL! I’m getting dizzy from all the back-and-forth nonsense. I let my muse have her head (as usual), …

Woodn’t it be Lovely?

Woodn’t it be lovely, to be able to apply a multitude of beading, and mixed media techniques, to a beautiful piece of wood? Plus, I’m using a renewable supply, so that’s an added bonus! I’ve been making Natural Art Brushes this week, out of driftwood, and fallen branches. I am fascinated by Leslie Rottner Art’s brushes! I spotted them on Instagram, a while back, and have been waiting for her to develop a workshop, When she did, I signed up! Now I see them everywhere I look! Is it synchronicity? Do all artist’s share the same mind? It’s definitely a …

Random Thoughts and Activities!

Random thoughts and activities are the story of my life! My wild and crazy notions, call for immediate attention! The second in my Paper Stitch Meditation series. I use my version of the Momigami technique, then embellish with simple hand embroidery stitches. My random thoughts and activities, then led me back to wooden beads. This week, I decorated them with Neurographic Line Drawings (NLD). Last week was decoupage! The NLD was a little challenging, as the pen wanted to slide a bit, and my hand wasn’t quite steady. Early morning would have been better, but I decided to start them …

What’s she up to now?

What’s she up to now, you say? Nonsense of course, but not all beading related. I’m writing a couple of articles, but it’s consuming a lot of my energy. My deadline is looming, so I really do need to get the lead out! My beading adventures continue, with my freeform peyote, quartz piece. I’m still working on it, but hope to have it finished soon. I made another mask chain! A butterfly, a heart, and 6/0 seed beads. Simple stringing, but geared toward something a little girl would like. I converted my Talisman pendant, to a mask holder, but only …

Reflections and Recollections: The time is now!

Reflections and recollections have been on my mind lately. But what does that have to do with the cost of beads, you say? Not much, but it’s a good opening act, so now I’ll get down to fleshing it all out. I’ve been dithering about during this pandemic, yet it might be time for me to start working on my mixed media jewelry again. Oh, I’ve been playing with this, and that, but mainly work of an ephemeral nature, so nothing that I could make into a collection. I was reminded of this, when I received an email from my …
