Dream a Little Dream of Beads!

If dream a little dream of beads is a little vague, then I need to tell you what I’m dreaming about. It’s all there, but like all dreams, it won’t be easy to explain. I’m in a transition phase with my art. I feel stalled, and need to give myself a good kick in the pants! I want to start a new project, but my muse is lusting for something more complicated, so I’m at an impasse. Darn that muse! It feels like I’ve been drifting along, with no particular focus. Have you ever had that happen to you? I …

An Eclectic Mix: My life in a nutshell!

An eclectic mix is how I describe last week’s adventures. I have multiple projects still in progress, but two are finished.Yeah! I will start with this bracelet, I repaired for a friend. It’s a memory piece, but the elastic had disintegrated. The repair recipe is Opelon elastic, plus small beads between each photo tile, then four slightly larger beads. A couple of surgeons knots, and drops of G-S Hypo Cement, fixed the issue. My slow stitched/Stitch Meditation bottle, was next up in an eclectic mix. More stitching, plus beads, finished the project! I love it!! However, I have no idea …

All About a Dream – Or is it a fantasy?

Is it all about a dream, or perhaps a fantasy? I think a nightmare of sorts, but definitely a learning experience! My free form peyote “Dancing” piece, started out as a dream, but has ended up an ongoing project. It’s not finished yet, but my second shot is this Friday. Yeah! It will be a little more normal for me, after a couple of weeks! Should I stop working on it, two weeks after that shot? Or wait until the pandemic is over in Canada? Progress on my piece has slowed, but I am still enjoying the process. This stitched …

Design Possibilities: Looking back, looking forward!

Design possibilities are all around, but it might be a case of looking back, then looking forward. It’s amazing what I found in my jewelry boxes! I actually don’t keep any of my necklaces in jewelry boxes, because those are for rings, pins, bracelets, and the odd chain, or two. I store necklaces on over-the-door type hook systems, because it keeps them from getting all tangled up (especially the long ones). Although I wanted to do a post on design possibilities, I haven’t been wearing much jewelry lately, so I was a bit stuck on what to say. Then I …

May 2021 Bead Mat Update: Splashing about with colour!

My May 2021 bead mat update, reflects my mood for the end of the month. A whole lot of rest, and then some splashing about with colour. To tell the truth, when I completed my #the100dayproject, I didn’t really want to do anything creative for a while. So, I took some time for myself, reflected on the project, then started thinking about possibilities for new beginnings. Yes, I drifted, but sometimes drifting is good! Then, after a bit more thought, I decided to finish up some of my outstanding obligations. I had some handmade driftwood brushes to finish. Check! A …

The Bead Goes On!

The bead goes on, but the question is what does it go on? I will explore that a little further, later on in the blog post. It wouldn’t be Wednesday, if I didn’t update you on my free form peyote ‘Dancing’ piece. Weekends, and TV time are perfect for working on this project, but I get the feeling that it’s actually my excuse to not do any other type of beading. My focus is almost Zen like, so it would be interesting to see what would happen if I turned everything off, then continued beading. Would the lack of noise …
