Dream a Little Dream of Beads!

If dream a little dream of beads is a little vague, then I need to tell you what I’m dreaming about. It’s all there, but like all dreams, it won’t be easy to explain. I’m in a transition phase with my art. I feel stalled, and need to give myself a good kick in the pants! I want to start a new project, but my muse is lusting for something more complicated, so I’m at an impasse. Darn that muse! It feels like I’ve been drifting along, with no particular focus. Have you ever had that happen to you? I …

Still Playing Around!

Of course, I’m still playing around. But what else would you expect? It’s too much fun to do otherwise, so I’ll just keep myself happy, amused, and out of trouble! Labour Day has come and gone! Nights are cooler now, so could fall be far away? I had four days off last weekend, and took full advantage of that extra creative time. No, I didn’t design any new classes, but I am thinking about it. I read, shopped, stitched, and I’m still playing around with my Jet Age Powders. It’s relaxing, stress relieving, creative, and just plain fun! I fully …

Win or Fail: That is the question?

Win or fail is one of the questions that we struggle with, all of the time? Why are we so afraid of failing? Are we just a product of our upbringing? I’m not afraid of failing! Failure is just a part of life, and if you never do it, then you just didn’t try hard enough. I win or fail, most of the time. Ha! Isn’t that a silly thought, and isn’t it true of all of us? How can we do both? I do admit to having a lot of arty experience, but I don’t like everything that I …

August 2021 Bead Mat Update: Go make something!

My August 2021 Bead Mat Update is centered around the theme of “go make something”! So I did!! What is normal these days? I wear a mask around others, even though I’ve been fully vaccinated. I follow social distancing guidelines, and keep my shopping/socializing to a bare minimum. Now into the meat of my August 2021 bead mat update! I discussed the Lumiere Lusters High Temp Powders in last week’s blog post, and here are some examples. I made the first two pieces a couple of years ago, but the rest last weekend. Older pieces! Powder (1) + Artist’s Concrete …

Tackling the Unknown: Love it or hate it?

Tackling the unknown is one of those love it, or hate it scenarios. You could say that I either love to hate it, or hate to love it!! It all depends. Of course, I’m always tackling the unknown, because that’s just the way I work. I love a good puzzle, and if I can make something, out of nothing, or dress up something ridiculous, then I’m a happy camper. My bead collage necklace fits in with that scenario. Take a bunch of lonely leftover beads, then add a pinch of something new to the mix (I this case, Czech Rolas). …

Waiting for Tomorrow: Because today is a pain!

Waiting for tomorrow is quite the exercise, because today is a definite pain! Wait a minute, but tomorrow is actually today, for the purposes of this blog post. Okay, I’m waiting for today, because it’s actually Tuesday that was the pain. I can handle the heat, but the humidity is a killer. Plus, we’re expecting unsettled weather, so that means the possibility of weather-related headaches, is always in the forecast. Yesterday’s pain was a doozy, so all I really wanted to do was to lie down, turn the lights out, and wait for tomorrow (which is actually today). But I …

Mixing it Up Again! So, what else is new?

I’m mixing it all up again, and I’m totally unapologetic about the whole thing! But what else is new, because I know that you expect this of me. I promised you more beading, but got distracted over the long weekend, so didn’t actually do that much. A little reading, a little dreaming, snacking, some napping, and the bare minimum of beading on my butterfly brooch (or will it be a pendant?). I did finish the main part of the beading, glued on the Ultra Suede backing, then worked on the edging. Soon! I forgot to add pin back, under the …

July 2021 Bead Mat Update: Ramping up the beading!

For my July 2021 Bead Mat Update, there will be beading! Surprise!! But there will also be some interesting stash related, plus random bits and pieces. I wouldn’t have it any other way? My magpie mind, is still all over the place! I’m doing a little of this, a little of that, and sometimes nothing at all. Reading, for pure enjoyment, and not always good literature, seems to be my fallback when inspiration lags. I can’t say that’s always the case, but I do go in spells. Now on to the real meat in my July 2021 Bead Mat Update! …

Beading on the Edge!

Beading on the edge, is a curious topic for this blog post. What could I possibly say, that would tie into that title? It doesn’t matter, because I thought of it yesterday, then decided that I needed to write a blog post about it. Not everything in this post will relate to beading, but some of it does! I’m not even close to beading on the edge of this piece, but once I complete the rows of beading, I will definitely need to finish the edge.  All of the beads, including the ladybugs, and polymer clay cabochons were purchased at …

An Eclectic Mix: My life in a nutshell!

An eclectic mix is how I describe last week’s adventures. I have multiple projects still in progress, but two are finished.Yeah! I will start with this bracelet, I repaired for a friend. It’s a memory piece, but the elastic had disintegrated. The repair recipe is Opelon elastic, plus small beads between each photo tile, then four slightly larger beads. A couple of surgeons knots, and drops of G-S Hypo Cement, fixed the issue. My slow stitched/Stitch Meditation bottle, was next up in an eclectic mix. More stitching, plus beads, finished the project! I love it!! However, I have no idea …
