Tackling the Unknown: Love it or hate it?

Tackling the unknown is one of those love it, or hate it scenarios. You could say that I either love to hate it, or hate to love it!! It all depends. Of course, I’m always tackling the unknown, because that’s just the way I work. I love a good puzzle, and if I can make something, out of nothing, or dress up something ridiculous, then I’m a happy camper. My bead collage necklace fits in with that scenario. Take a bunch of lonely leftover beads, then add a pinch of something new to the mix (I this case, Czech Rolas). …

Waiting for Tomorrow: Because today is a pain!

Waiting for tomorrow is quite the exercise, because today is a definite pain! Wait a minute, but tomorrow is actually today, for the purposes of this blog post. Okay, I’m waiting for today, because it’s actually Tuesday that was the pain. I can handle the heat, but the humidity is a killer. Plus, we’re expecting unsettled weather, so that means the possibility of weather-related headaches, is always in the forecast. Yesterday’s pain was a doozy, so all I really wanted to do was to lie down, turn the lights out, and wait for tomorrow (which is actually today). But I …

An Eclectic Mix: My life in a nutshell!

An eclectic mix is how I describe last week’s adventures. I have multiple projects still in progress, but two are finished.Yeah! I will start with this bracelet, I repaired for a friend. It’s a memory piece, but the elastic had disintegrated. The repair recipe is Opelon elastic, plus small beads between each photo tile, then four slightly larger beads. A couple of surgeons knots, and drops of G-S Hypo Cement, fixed the issue. My slow stitched/Stitch Meditation bottle, was next up in an eclectic mix. More stitching, plus beads, finished the project! I love it!! However, I have no idea …

It’s All a Mystery!

Sometimes, it’s all a mystery why I do what I do? I make beading plans, but then get busy with other projects. Let’s start talking about it! I spotted a glass bottle, that I had saved because I liked the shape. Next, I decided that it should be covered in fabric. So, it’s all a mystery, why this project started the ideas flowing? But what about beads? First, patch the bottle with scraps of cotton quilt batting. Use both straight and running stitches. Then, cover with both fabrics, and text, using the same stitches. Fabric cover finished, then the next …

Beading Wire Trials – and playful experiments!

Beading wire trials, seem to be an occasional occurrence for me! However, playful experiments will be the real name of the game. I spotted some lonely hearts hanging on the wall, so decided to give myself a wee Valentine’s gift. Totally out of character for me, but the hearts are cute!! I won’t wear my heart on my sleeve, but figured that it would be okay to wear them on my wrist. In this case, simple was definitely better than fancy. The crimping, went well at the beginning, but when I reached the end, I found that the hole in …

Changing Lanes Again: It’s always fun!

Changing lanes again is always fun, at least to me it is. But then again, I’ve always loved change, even though I’m probably one of the few that actually welcome it. Why would you want to keep doing the same old things, when you get a chance to enrich your life with a whole world of new things. It’s exciting, energizing, but scary just the same. Why not try something new, especially in these social distancing, and quarantining days. Just do it! Heaven knows, we need a dash of excitement in our lives, so why wait? How would you do this? …
