Inspiration Monday: The Origin of Life

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing The Origin of Lifeby: Dwyn Tomlinson This shipment of Blue Green Quartz – well – sorry – but I can’t hear the phrase “blue-green” without thinking of “Blue Green Algae” or Cyanobacteria – the bacteria that started photosynthesizing and churning out oxygen as a by-product – thus changing the planet’s atmosphere from largely carbon-dioxide to one with enough oxygen for a whole new biodiversity to evolve. It may be bacteria (ick) but – yay – oxygen = eventually – US! So hooray for blue green algae – we wouldn’t be where we are today without …

Inspiration Monday: Rolo Unchained – a bracelet.

by: Rae Huggins Again – Rae presents us with a two-strand bracelet. One strand is a simple stringing project, and the other is a length of chain. The chain hooks directly onto the clasp on one side, and the clasp hooks into the chain on the other side, so it adjusts for length. The strung pearls are attached to the clasp on the same loop as the chain on one side, and attached to the chain, about 4 links from the end, on the other side. Overall length is 8 – 8.5 inches. Rae says about this bracelet: I love …

Inspiration Monday: She Sells Seashells – Charm Bracelet

by: Rochelle Kilmer She sells seashells, by the seashore – the seashells that she sells are sea shells, I’m sure! Not only is it hard to say – it’s hard to type! This seashell themed chain is the starting point for a lovely beachy bracelet. Perfect for that Caribbean Cruise, or sitting on a patio PRETENDING to be on a Caribbean cruise. Jumprings lengthen the chain and connect the clasp, and give the clasp an adjustable length to hook into. Attach the charms with a jumpring as well – making sure that they are well closed so that they do …

Monday Inspiration – Ivory & Sticks Bracelet

by: Rae Huggins Rae says about this bracelet: Oh I just love these two together – I can visualize myself stepping out with this bracelet and a simple pair of earrings (that I’m in the process of designing). Where am I going? Well I haven’t decided yet, but wherever it is I’m gonna have a grand time!!!! You too can come on this journey by using basic stringing. Initially I was just going to use the ivory pearls and the sticks to make a single strand bracelet, but it felt incomplete. I also loved the look of the Crystal AB …

Inspiration Monday! Fairyland Bracelet

by: Rochelle Kilmer Pretty pink pearls and a fairy charm. For those days when you need to feel all girly-girly! The clasp really makes this piece, but if you are inspired to make this for a younger girl – maybe go with a less high-end clasp, or even string the whole thing on stretchy stuff instead.   Components Go to our components list for this project and to buy what you need! InspirationFX — Nouveau Kephri

by: Rochelle Kilmer Kephri was the ancient Egyptian scarab god – a god of the sun, who was responsible for the forces that moved the sun across the sky each day. This updated homage to the power of the beetle combines pyrite and turquoise to good effect to evoke the ancient feeling of Egypt’s treasures. This necklace is 18.5 inches without the chain extender, and 20.5 inches with. Cute approx 22 inches of softflex for one side of this asymmetrical necklace, and approx 14 inches for the other side. Take a wire guardian and move it to the center of …

Mermaids Choice

by: Dwyn Tomlinson This fish leather is super handsome, once you get over the “Fish Leather? Really?” feeling. Actually – feeling is what it is about – because this feels like any other leather, smooth and warm, and smells like any other leather too. If you need some help with the how-to – check out my detailed blog post on gluing leather onto a brass cuff base, and finishing the inside nicely with ultra suede.
