Begin at the Beginning: Ready, set, bead!

I’m just going to begin at the beginning, because that’s the absolute best way to start. But what do I mean by that? Well, my Intuitive Bead Embroidery adventures, started with Robin Atkins’ Bead Journal Project, towards the end of 2007. Before that, I had done a bit of bead embellishment on some of my fibre art pieces, but nothing to really write home about. Robin challenged us to make one piece per month, for a total of twelve months. They had to be the same shape, contain at least one bead, and tell a little about what was going …

Working in the centre of the Bead-A-Verse!

You might think that working in the centre of the bead-a-verse (aka BeadFX) is an easy job! But, I’m here to say that it’s definitely not! Just ask my co-workers!! You are always surrounded by sparkly temptation!!! Not only that, but you are also surrounded by creative beaders, whose pieces are positively drool worthy. As I immerse myself more heavily in mixed media, I have a sneaking suspicion that I will need to get back to the basics, before I will be able to refresh my creative spirit. Oh, don’t worry, I won’t actually slow …

UFO to Go!

When I say UFO to go, I mean it! Last week was quite productive on the UFO front, but there’s still room for more work. My oldest UFO in this grouping, is a pearl necklace that I started in a class with Angela Peace, many years ago. I was going through my stash, and stumbled upon a project box that I had forgotten about. In it, was an almost complete necklace, with just one end left unfinished. So, I finished it! Take that, you UFO, you!! In my defense, the holes in the final two pearls were pretty tight, and …
