Sunny And Hot In July

With all of this heat you should stay in side and take a virtual class. Our July classes are super exciting. Pamela Kearns, Gillian Clarke, Liz Reynolds, Peggy Stirling and Liz Kennedy have seed beading, chainmaillie, metal clay and metal smiting to keep you busy in July. The classes at the beginning of July are all Virtual but we are happy to say we do have some classes in store this month. Check out our July calendar for more details.

Do you feel lucky?

I recently discovered some articles that discussed luck and creativity and if they are related. One view indicated that people who considered themselves ‘lucky’ general found more opportunities in their day-to-day life while ‘unlucky’ people missed opportunities because they were too focused on something else. As the author put it, “Luck is not about how life looks at you, it’s about how you look at life”. It makes me wonder if I am missing some creative opportunities because I’m not paying to attention to ‘bigger pictures’ around me. By being intentionally observant, we can see unusual colour combinations that we …

Celebrate your Creative Achievements

Graduations. Proms. Weddings. Anniversaries. For many, these are life’s milestones and opportunities to celebrate life with friends and family. Do you celebrate your achievements? Accomplishments can be large or small or even ‘steps along the way’ to bigger successes. Celebrating your accomplishments can boost your confidence, help to stave off burnout, and fuel your continued success. In the midst of Open Bead Night and Afternoon Bead Tea, I often hear “oh, it’s just a necklace”, or “it’s just a pair of earrings”. Please, never ‘just’ your accomplishments! You’ve spent time; you’ve applied learning; and you’ve put yourself into your designs. …

Fulfilling Your Resolution to Learn

We made it into a brand New Year! It’s nice to get back to a regular schedule, although let’s face it – we need to break out once in a while – right? Do you set resolutions? I prefer to set positive resolutions, rather than focus on what I shouldn’t be doing. My 2019 resolution is to learn more wirework and metalwork. I’ve been eyeing a number of classes that will keep me busy. Come and join me – there are lots of classes to choose from! I hope you were able to join us for this past weekend’s Meet …

Everybody’s talking about it!

After listening to all the chatter, then deliberating for a while, I finally bit the bullet and decided to take a metal clay workshop at BeadFX. What the heck have I been waiting for? I thoroughly enjoyed my Holiday Gifts workshop with Liz Reynolds, last Sunday, and I’m afraid that this just might lead to yet another addiction!! According to Wikipedia: “Metal clay is a crafting medium consisting of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze, or copper, mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewelry, beads and small sculptures. Originating in Japan …
