Course outline: In this class with Christine Woollacott, students will make simple and stylish sterling silver stacking rings with colourful gemstone accents. The class will focus on simple tricks for making rings with sterling silver wire, and will go over the basics of stone setting using pre-formed fine silver bezels. The class will go over texturing and finishing techniques such as how to achieve a high polish, hammer texture, or satin finish to the ring. It’s that time of year when we clean out the garden and start to select greenery to plant. Spring is also an ideal time of year to shake the winter cobwebs from our imagination and look for inspiration to get our creativity flowering again. Can you stimulate creativity? Course outline: Learning to solder silver is your gateway into the world of fine metalwork. In this class with instructor Iris Rogers Melamed you will learn how to solder circles of heavy gauge silver wire and transform them into earrings and stacking rings. Fold Formed Leaf Pendant

Course outline: Instructor Liz Kennedy will introduce you to fold forming sheet metal and various commonly used metalwork techniques. Shears will be used to cut the leaf shape you design. You will be hammering the sheet metal to form curves and texture. You will anneal the piece, using a torch. You will trim file and buff the piece. Course outline: In this class with Iris Rogers Melamed, we will explore techniques of soldering and forming sheet metal and wire. We will start by discussing methods of measurement for bangles, both from metal sheet and different forms of wire. We will then construct and finish the base bangle from copper sheet that is 16 mm to 19 mm wide. Design decisions will be made regarding texture and types of metal to use.
