A New Twist

The new twist is – in fact – an old twist. It all started when I stumbled across this website – https://www.manek-manek.com – beadwork by Helena Tang-Lim. I no longer remember what it was I was searching for, and I have to say – if there are agencies and corporations tracking my movements through the internet – attempting to figure out what it is I want – they are going to be deeply confused. Anyway – I was instantly dazzled and captivated by her beadwork. I found this pattern in her “Freebies” section, and downloaded it – and then realized …

Ways to Shine

There are ways to shine without draping yourself in crystal – and this week – we have two shiny options. First off – the promised Preciosa Nacre Pearls. These are Preciosa’s high-end pearls – and still more budget-friendly than Swarovski! Now – the caveat is – so far, we have the 4mm, and the 10mm and 12mm – which I agree – leaves a rather awkward gap in the middle. Supply chains being what they are these days (i.e. highly disrupted) – our choices were – leave you hanging until they all arrived, or – and this is the one …

GemDuos & Some Really Cute Bezels

More of these happy little diamond-shaped two-hole beads. Looking for some new ideas for projects? Matubo has some great patterns you can download for Free!  How about these  Danai Earrings – by Petra Kasparova, or this Safari bracelet by Nela Kabelova? And then, there are these super cute bezels. You can do the resin thing, or the polymer clay thing, or the “put the polymer clay in, cover it in wonderful metallic powders, bake, and then coat with resin for a super glossy look” thing. Speaking of which, we have a re-stock shipment of the gorgeous Jet Age Studio Creative …

Mixing the Media, Shipping & Curbside Pick-up!

More stuff to pour resin into, stuff your polymer clay into, load up with 2-part epoxy clay and encrust with rhinestones, use as frames for bead embroidery, loom work, or bead stitching. Nothing sets off your creativty like a nice framework. These wide cuffs are a handsome statement. Just slip a couple on as is, and you are wonder woman! (Actually – you already are wonder woman!) But let’s say you take a piece of beading foundation, trace out the size of the space in the cuff on it, and then embroider it with beads from your stash. Then trim …

Duochrome Resin Sparkle Stuff, STILL 15%, Still Shipping

Resin and Polymer Clay. Beads may not be, gasp!, the be(ad) all and and end all for you. (Horrors!) If you read and enjoyed Anne Marie’s post on “Resin Dreams” where she admits to a passion for Mixed Media and a serious obsession with resin, then, boy howdy – do I have good news for you. News so good that I would be standing in front of this update with stick trying to stop Anne Marie from buying it all. But as I am at home and I can’t defend it for you, I suggest you get to it quick! …

Is it time yet? I believe that it is!

Is it time yet, but why do you ask? It’s actually past time, but then that’s something that you’ll just need to deal with. Of course, when I ask “Is it time yet?”, I’m alluding to the fact that the holidays are drawing very close, but what does that mean to you? For me, it’s Christmas, but depending on your family, religious, and personal traditions, many of you, celebrate other winter holidays! It’s all good!! “Is it time yet?”, also means have you made your holiday gifts yet? Part of my holiday tradition, is to make a few handmade gifts …

Unfinished Projects: Good or bad?

Are unfinished projects the dreaded enemy? Do they frustrate you, or are you just happy to have an easy project to work on? Before I started adding workshops to my roster, I probably finished off more projects than the majority of people. However, now my workspace is filled with class samples, but those samples are really unfinished projects (UP’s). I make a lot of samples, yet not all of them, should be finished. But of course, I am my own worst critic! What the heck am I supposed to do with the ones that I don’t like? I know that …

Secrets and Treasures: We all have them!

Secrets and treasures, but what would the world be without them? A very dull place indeed! Who doesn’t have special little bits and pieces, hidden around their home? Do you take them out and fondle them, or just feel safe, knowing that they’re hidden away from prying eyes? I say enjoy them! Wallow in the memories! Air them out, let them free, dream about them, but keep them close to your heart! What better way to do that, than to make an amulet pouch? I’ve been thinking about amulet, or talisman pouches for a while, but hadn’t settled on how …

Mix it up!

When I say mix it up, what do you suppose I mean? I’m not really sure, but it’s a subject that we’re going to explore! I call myself a Mixed-Up Media Artist, and that’s because I like to play with just about anything. Beads, paint, alcohol inks, stitch, fabric, resin, concrete, paper, stones. Also, enamel, polymer clay, felting, metal, rusty objects, and even driftwood. But is there anything else out there that I’m missing? Well, I’m not really into knotting (except for pearls), have never done any lampwork, and have had minimal experience with wire wrapping, metal clay, and metalwork …

Do we have Bezels? – Yes we have Nunn

We’d give you the stars and the moon and the sun – but we have Nunn. Nunn Designs that is! Are you a fan of the lovely creations of Nunn Designs? We are – and especially our mixed-media-fiend Anne Marie, who is little bit like that kid that is always, “Mommy, mommy – can we get some of these?” Good thing she has good taste! So we have new shapes in bezels, for those of you who like to resin-ate. Fingernail Earring Findings – if you haven’t seen these, you might be a bit confused. They are designed to hold …
