White after Labour Day

At some point in my life, I discovered that there were dumb fashion rules. Actually – I am stunningly fashion-challenged, so I tend to think most fashion rules are … questionable … . 😉 Anyway – a quick google regarding “white after labour day” gets you a host of articles agreeing that it’s not a thing and you should wear white whenever you want. (In my case, not in the muddy-puppy season.) Which is good, because these White Jade beads are too yummy to not wear! In both Matte and Glossy – they evoke crisp white shirts, smooth clean sheets, …

Catch you on the Diopside

Aren’t these gorgeous? Emeralds wish they looked this good – in fact – they are green with envy. But not green enough! These are Diopside – and they are the green that makes you think of mother earth, emerald forests, jungle escapes and hidden glades. This week is another treasure trove of Mother Nature’s gifts. For instance, these Elytra – (beetle wing covers) – we have them with holes and without now. They are a traditional craft item from India and Thailand, and are sourced from wood boring beetles that have passed on after their natural life span of about …

Argh Matey – There be Pyrites

These be One-Of-A-Kind Pyrites, not like Pyrites were ever exactly popped out of a mold. This one is Big Louie Ben Grimm Lady Black The Squibb Ultima Thule, or Peanut Head. These are cabochons – for want of a better word. They have no hole, and are flat and polished on one side, but this side is cooler. IMHO. But, speaking of Cabochons, we do have more new this week. 😉 Most excellent for wire wrapping. We also have some Mixed Boxes of Findings. Good starter packs or for traveling. And if the assembling of your project requires the application …

Colour Choices: Are you willing to buck the trends?

We all make colour choices in our lives? Do you play it safe, or are you willing to go against the masses? The premier colour master, for people who follow trends, is Pantone! They put out a report that predicts the colours that fashion, paint, and interior design gurus, are likely to follow during a certain period. The Colour of the Year for 2019, is called “Living Coral”. A fresh, but somewhat meh colour for me, but if you’re interested, we do have a nice Swarovski Pearl in Coral. However, this would probably not be one of my colour choices …

InspirationFX: Hidden Underwater Treasures

Hidden Underwater Treasures Designed by: Rochelle Kilmer Well, I think it is safe to say that summer has come and gone now. Fall blew us right into winter. Windy, chilly, snowy – not yet but I can feel it coming. I can’t help but dream of the water and sandy beaches. Or more so lately, I have been thinking about all the hidden gems people have found in the deep, dark depths of the water. Old ships, bicycle tires, messages in a bottle, pearls, jewellery, diamonds, coral reefs, sharks, octopus… There is a whole world down there many of us …

InspirationFX: Nile Waters

Get your creative juices flowing ~ ~ ~ Nile Waters Designed by: Rosemary Beasley The starting point for this necklace was a strand of the little ‘tooth’ shaped pieces of s56460 5×15 Flat Chips Impression Jasper. The aqua/turquoise tones represent the water of the Nile River and the sandy veining the sand of the surrounding deserts. The 2mm fire polish beads were added to give a hint of sparkle, like the sunlight bouncing off the waves.Although I have never taken a cruise down the Nile, this is how I imagine the Nile to look. Maybe someday I will have a …

InspirationFX: Laredo Lariet

Laredo Lariet Designed by: Dwyn Tomlinson You – sometimes you sit down to make one thing, and a different piece of jewelry happens! I was going to make a necklace with tassels, but then I had these beads on the table and the next thing you know, I’m using them instead! The basic idea is the same – the very fine chain and the silicone-filled slider bead to make the clasp. Just be sure that you put the slider bead on BEFORE you add the beads dangling at the end. Don’t ask me why I think it is very important …

InspirationFX: Twinsie at the Beach

Twinsie at the Beach Designed by: Rochelle Kilmer My bestfriend and I love turtles! We love the water, the sand, the shells, and everything else that goes with it. So these bracelets really capture our common interests and loves. To Begin: Lay out your strip of leather. I decided to go with a wavy pattern – but you could choose any design you like. Just don’t make your ends too small – in width – because you want them to fit comfortably into the clasp. I drew my outline on the back of the leather – the non-smooth side – …

Statement Stones!

Unique, bold and expressive! Actually – I’m talking about these One of a Kind (OOAK) stone pendants, not the staff here. These Stone pendants are definitely the place to start for making something that will stop traffic, start conversation and make you the center of attention. These are large and in charge – in charge of being gorgeous! If you are feeling even more adventuresome, we have some freeform polished agate slices. No holes in these – so you will have to be a little more creative in how to hang or secure them – either by making a bezel …
