Margaritas

A generic image

No, it's not a drink — although that's not a bad idea! This is Swarovski Style 3700 — a multi-petaled flower bead known as a Margarita — with a center hole.

This is a "sew on stone" as Swarovski calls it — originally designed for the fashion clothing market — makes great jewelry too — put on a headpin (especially with a crystal in it), bend 90 degrees, thread on some crystals, and make a loop, and hey presto, instant earrings.

Some are foil-backed, others have are transparent, or have other finishes.

Wasting away again in Margarita-ville
searching for my lost Swarovski bead
some people claim it was the bead thread to blame
but I know ... it was that d--- knot's fault.

Everyone has been going crazy too for making these cute little Christmas tree earrings, using a 4 mm cube, 3 Margarita in graducated sizes, (i.e. 6, 8 and 10 mm, or 8, 10, and 12), and topped with a bicone, usually a 3 mm. String these on a headpin (1.5 inch fine headpin will do) and hang on an ear wire and you are good to go, or make wine charms, or decorations for mini-trees!
