Sunday Inspiration: October Star

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing October Starby: Dwyn Tomlinson This Carnelian is so glorious – such a wonderful, yummy, candy look to it. I wanted to use some of it – but wanted to try a different colour combination – something non-obvious – well – to me, anyway. Obvious to me is combining it with black or blue. (Blue is the complementary colour, Black – well – everything looks great with black.) The ivory beads looked really nice with the Carnelian, so I grabbed some of the carved bone and some of the Swarovski gemstone pearls and started designing. Halfway …

Monday Inspiration: Cafe La Iron Zebra

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing Cafe La Iron Zebra by: Rochelle Kilmer I saw these double-drilled ovals in the Iron Zebra Jasper and wondered what I could do with them that was a little bit different. I was intrigued by the patterns within the stones and the colours that are so rich and intense. The colours reminded me of a steaming cup of cafĂ© mocha. Starting with the Iron Zebra Jasper as my inspiration, everything else fell into place, keeping the colours in a warmer tone. And to make the whole set, I only needed one strand of the double …

Inspiration Monday: Messy Chic

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing Messy Chicby: Rochelle Kilmer Rochelle does love her some turquoise! This uber chic, uber casual bracelet could be done in any colour, using any beads. This is 8 strands on a 5 loop clasp – so two strands are attached to some loops. The strands do NOT match up, first loop to first loop, but criss cross to create a more random look. The strands are not exactly matched for length, and the Econoflex has been kinked for an even more random look. (Scrunch it and fold it to put kinks in it. Or use …

Monday Inspiration: River Pebbles

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing River Pebblesby: Dwyn Tomlinson Make your own treasure from the simplest of stones. These matte-finished tumbled stones look like the un-assuming pebbles that you might find on the beach on in a stream. Dress them up with a bit of gold – and voila – a  casual chic bracelet that will work fine for the office, and then happily go to dinner too. And, because there were beads left over – you can make earrings too! Plus an extra pair to keep or give away.   Components Go to our components list for this project and …

Inspiration Monday: Antique Summer

InspirationFXGet your creative juices flowing Antique Summerby: Rochelle Kilmer My favourite colour is turquoise and when I saw the Amazonite, I nearly died. This stone is GORGEOUS!!! I knew right away I had to make a piece with it. So I grabbed some tumbled nuggets and the faceted trapezoids and started walking around the store. From there I was attracted to the antique brass rolo chain. The brass brought out the warmer tones in the Amazonite for me. I continued my walk through the store and then came the citrine nuggets and Swarovski crystals. With all my pieces I sat …

Inspiration Monday: Mall Survival Bracelet

InspirationFX Get your creative juices flowing Mall Survival by: Pam Kearns Paracord Survival bracelets are all very well – but we know there are tougher environs to survive than out in the forest where all you have to worry about are bears and venomous snakes. Anyone whose has ever shopped the mall pre-holiday sale knows that venomous snakes have nothing on the angry store clerk and toddlers make bears look like a picnic. This a more feminine version of a cobra stitch bracelet and is done using our new Parachute Cord. The sample shown measures about 9.25″ in length and …
