Captivating Cupchain

If there’s one thing I love, it’s Swarovski crystal. The cut, the colour, the sparkle. Nobody does it like Swarovski. And here at beadFX, there are so many different Swarovski products, from round stones and fancy stones, beads, pendants and pearls, to flat back and hotfix rhinestones and my latest favourite, Cupchain! So what can you do with the cup chain? I bought some preexisting bangles from a store that caters to women who are a little…. Fluffy shall we say. At least my hand span is larger than most.  I measured the outside diameter of the bangle: 10 inches, …

Fun Times at Open Bead Night

Give me beads, two bite brownies and a coffee and I’m good to go! Add in like minded beadiful people and what do you get? Open Bead Night! We were a small but mighty group tonight with some of our regulars either on vacation or at a women’s networking event.  I’m working on making fringe earrings and a pendant using a tube of 11/0 ColourFX, Miyuki drops, daggers and some bead caps. This is week two of working on them. But as I’m usually helping others with their work, these might take a little longer to finish.  Bonnie is working …

Pantone's Fall 2013 Forecast

Rochelle, Malliga and I created some beautiful bead combinations today that incorporate the new Fall 2013 colours as forecast by Pantone. We just have to photograph them, but I tell you, you will not be disappointed.  As Emerald is THE colour of the year, it is showcased in the Fall forecast in colourways more subdued than the Spring.  Please enjoy the following images from Pantone and Akanksha at www.fictitious-fashion.blogspot.ca

My Auntie's Vintage Jewellery

I’m writing to you from a little slice of heaven in the foothills of the Adirondacks. I’ve vacationed here with my Auntie every year of my life except last year. She is my inspiration: a weaver, a seamstress, a knitter and the person who introduced me to beading. She has a wonderful vintage jewellery collection that I thought I’d share with you.  Jennifer, the editor of Beading Daily, lives in Lake Placid, and came for a visit. Here she is in front of one side of the “shrine”.  Here’s the back side of the door.  Some close ups for you.  …
